Lol.

No one uses these any more...

But well first, Americans call the bum (backside, derriere) a fanny. Understood, in the UK it means something a bit more outre.

A fanny pack is a clip on purse, basically. A belt with bag below. It clips around the waist or low hips, and (the bag part) has just enough room for keys, wallet/coin purse, lipstick, sunglasses, credit cards. Usually that's about it.

Tourists favor them. The bag itself can be worn to the front or to the back. (So I guess that makes it an accurate name either way!?)

Actually, I once had a money belt for travelling that you were supposed to wear under your top . . . but it got sort of embarrassing dipping into it every time I need to pay for something.

"I'm nobody, who are you?"

(Random poetry quotes aside, I wear mine whenever I go out, rather than taking a purse. It's attached, so it's much harder to forget and leave it somewhere, and it's hands-free, which was a big plus in earlier days when I had to wrangle kids and associated baggage. Every now and again I think about replacing it with a purse, but so far I haven't gotten around to it.)

I wore one a lot, then decided a very nice leather backpack was a bit more chic, then found a small chic bag that was just big enough. I never liked bags slipping off the shoulder constantly, or huge bags that end up carrying more than luggage. Just isn't me.

Purse? Do you mean a handbag? Oh gawd now I'm totally bamboozled. If I smoked, I'd probably go out and suck on a fag.

You know, I love this series, and have it on DVD. But seeing this clip now forced me to actually look up "minge" . . .

And now I know . . . :D

What one of my young nieces refers to as her "front bum-bum" . . . :p

lol - I get that a lot. Actually, I'm female both in RL and SL. I chose Nic as my SL name because I couldn't have Nicole when I signed up.

But my husband did wear a fanny pack for several years, until his wore out and he went back to stuffing things in his pockets or hanging them from his belt.

Then again, we met doing historical recreation, so the idea of throwing all one's gear in a pouch attached to one's belt (clothes from that period didn't have attached pockets) already had a precedent. Somewhere around here I'm sure we still have the beautifully tooled sporran he made to wear with his kilt...

A lot of people use them actually, especially those of us with firearms carry permits. There are tons of them out there designed for this purpose. Trust me, I know. :)

I have actually been considering one of those for my pistol, but I'm still debating about a few different types of holders.

Americans call an arse a fanny, lol, and they wonder why the rest of the world dislikes them.

I'm pretty sure that has little to do with anyone liking or disliking Americans.

Folks that cannot think for themselves and are just going along for the ride come up with reasons like this.

DD, if you're English or European, can you wind your neck in and keep your 'anti US' thoughts to yourself. The thread is about fanny packs and bum bags, not throwing stones at your mates across the pond...

Besides, there's plenty of other reasons to dislike us!

It is a dreadful and ugly bag that straps to a body. I really wish women would spend more time with their accessories in real. Good leather bags - and good DOES mean expensive - are essential. Good shoes, good bag, a discreet scent: Good taste.

Only shoulder bags though, right? I hate carrying crap.

What's your feeling on those stupid little backpack things some women have? They are like the size of a change purse . . .

(Guess I kind of tipped my hand on that one, eh?)
