From: Snowman Jiminy No need to go looking for Real Life, eventually it will come looking for you.... Oh gawd I hope not. Burys her head under the covers and goes back to sleep and dreams of SL.

Oh poor Ianthe. Who's been telling you stories about RL again? You do know it is entirely fictional don't you? There is no RL. Listen to the smart people who tell you this. Everyone else is a liar. Find some more avatars to stack. Don't spend your life chasing after RL. Those people staring through the screen are our Gods. Notice how you can't look straight at them? RL is one of those stories made up to scare little children. Don't fall for it Go and have some fun wih your friends.

No! There is a real Life, I know, I've been there. They have things...and stuff...and Pizza.

I'm not sure it's worth looking for RL. I've been a resident for several years now and have had mixed experiences.
First off, its incredibly expensive: barely 160m of land with a tiny house cost me in excess of 18 million L$ - even before the inflation of the market due to unscrupulous land barons. My tier runs to tens of thousands every month. My neighbours have all erected visible banlines and are paranoid about letting me wander their homes. Several features are missing or broken: I can't access my appearance sliders, TP is totally borked and there is no easy way to mute griefers. The interface for building is insanely complicated and takes years to master. Even a simple plywood cube is hours of work. Everywhere I've been is damage enabled and the content protection is a joke. It's even possible for someone to take your money or objects without your permission.
On the plus side, the graphics & physics engines are smooth and believable and the whole thing runs at an incredibly high resolution. The sims seem much larger: one only experiences border-crossing issues when traveling extreme distances. Realistic skins and functional prim genitals are provided free of charge, although I understand some residents have occasional problems with them.

Perhaps Commodus (in Gladiator) is right... "life is really just a a dream, a terrible dream......". But he seemed quite vexed at the time, terribly vexed.

Too bad they are attched to the same morons as they are here.

no no no no no! its all fictional!!! Will you people stop filling Ianthe's head with nonsense!!!! i think the Greenies have abducted you and made you think you were in something called RL. She is going to end up wanting to explore! Then what will happen? She will be deleted! She will wander off the edge of SL and will be no more!
Please Ianthe, don't listen. Just keep playing your happy games with your friends.

I think we should set up a 'RL users' group - all fans of RL should meet up in SL several times a day, 7 days a week, to share their love for RL.

From: Ianthe Kline What's a keyboard FGS? If you want to talk you just have to do the talking-waves with your hands in certain special movements and the words appear. Everyone knows that. How do you learn to talk without learning the talking-waves first? That's stupid. What's a computer? Is that the strange window that you 'RL' people peer in through? Anybody would think the world belogs to YOU! Me and my friends, the true SL indigenous population, know it belongs to US. You are just visitors. OK thank you and all that for coming along and bringing your money in, but just a tiny sense of awareness of us would be welcome. I mean, I don't want to seem unwelcoming, but bringing your 'RL' values and obsessions here... do think first!
Anyway I decided I dont want to go to 'RL' after all. Home is best. I form a group of second generation inhabitants who only live here, and have never been to 'RL'. Anybody can join but proof of non-existence and details of non-identity are required. Who wants to join? Born and raised in RL... Is there gonna be some kind of adoption program in the future for this group? I want outta here!!!!!PLEAAASSEEE

There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

Don't go looking for RL ... people can't be anything but one thing there and there's no layers of computer rubbish to hide behind* ...
And those cute women everyone lusts after turn out to really be men, and can't even hide when you hear them speak or see them ... disappointing but true ...
*Unless of course they are lying scumbags there too of course

From: Har Fairweather Don't worry about it, Ianthe. RL is overrated. Yes; all that actual sex, real food that has flavour, conversation with people who can talk about things other than furry buttsecks or how much lag there is and scenery that actually looks nice. The one thing it does have in it's favour that the OP will find familliar is the ability to alter your avatar's shape and proportions at will. Unfortunately the process is slightly lengthier than simply using the sliders, and requires that one engage in activities known by the RL residents as "exercise" and "good nutrition". We're best off out of it, I say.

From: SuezanneC Baskerville I think you can leave out the first step. and the second; there may well be a hammer in the OP's parent's basement (where the OP lives) already.
