In SL, I don't have to:
Take a shower Wash my hair Dry my hair Brush my teeth Put on makeup Spend ten minutes digging in the jewel box for the other earring
And I can: Put on my pants both legs at a time Heck, I can put ALL my clothes on with a single mouse click!
So why, then, WHY does it still take me an hour to get ready to go someplace?

My SL 'closet' has over 7000 items in it...that takes a while to get through.

OK, I have to clarify myself: even the women in SL played by real women in RL are still women. But I wonder if the women in SL NOT played by women in RL havee the same problem?

Man or women, spending an hour getting ready feels pretty pointless when you finally make your grand entrance and find your hair and shoes up your bum bum.

Don't feel bad. Gay men take just as long to get ready even though we're probably not even putting on a shirt.

Because the mere act of dressing is just busy work. The eternal struggle is WHAT to wear. Formal? Sleek but sassy? Trampy? Drop dead sexy (without being trampy)? Classic? Fun & funky? Eccentric? Casual but elegant? So many choices. And that's just the hair. Then you move on clothes, shoes, jewelery, accessories. It's a wonder any of us ever go anywhere

It's not just a girl thing. In RL I can get dressed in my usual jeans and Tshirt in 30 seconds, just stick a hand in the drawer and pull out the first thing. In SL it always takes at least 10 minutes, even if I'm just putting on jeans and Tshirt, have to try on several Tshirts to find the one I want.
And as for shopping!!! Been in SL 9 months. Total time spent RL clothes shopping - less than an hour. It's a rare day when I don't spend at least 30 minutes in SL clothes shops. In RL go shopping when I need something, in SL shopping is a major pastime.

Takes me a long time too. I have over 10,000 inventory items,so sorting takes time. Then I need to try on at least 5 outfits twice. Change my hair about 6 times. By the time I am done,I forget where I was supposed to go and need to log out for RL things anyway.

It was more a rhetorical question than anything else, but your response actually gave me a better insight into my own (chaotic) mental processes.

I don't take very long to get ready to go places! I have a selection of outfit folders in my wardrobe and I just bung on whatever takes my fancy. Most of my clothes are not posh and I just use 3 hairstyles - loose long hippie style, or tied back either in a nice flexi ponytail or a plain bun at the back like Olive from Popeye! I just keep fit and watch my weight and I find I can get away with wearing almost anything - or nothing at all, even!!!!

From: Mephisto Offcourse But I wonder if the women in SL NOT played by women in RL have the same problem? I was going to quote Wulfric who really sums it up for Bilbo SL/RL but yes, my female alt can spend an entire login playing with clothes and not go anywhere!! .. and yes .. I am getting treatment.
