Con Artist Posing as my Alt.

Only bold-faced and visible, named avatars of Supreme Flock of Land Ninjas and our NinjaLand Rental groups are members of our partnership.

There has been an individual representing himself as one of our alts to do complicated land deals. He is defrauding people of their money and their land.

In general, if someone is offering you a complicated land deal, they are probably a scammer.

If my group wants to sell you land, the group sells the bloody land. You don't pay cash to some avatar who then has you join the group as an owner (oops! can't do that, can you, you big fat filthy liar!)

See my profile in game for more information on this piece of work. He's using a 2 week old alt, so I am sure he will simply delete it and create more.

I feel your pain Skye, I am sorry if this has happen. If you think someone is has hacked into your alt or has someone created similar alt with similar name, change your passwords and contact Linden Labs and tell them about the situation.

actually yes you can join a group as an owner, at least you could last time I checked, which was just seconds ago (just to make sure I was not mistaken)

however to join as an owner, you have to be invited by someone who has the ability to invite you under the owner tag.

Your quote is out of context. She clearly further defines her statement by saying

But I think there is nothing she can do about it. So she is saying if you want to buy from them to you the standard land buying system, not paying this third party (who is a fruad) for the "deal."

I am sorry but I don't see that at all in the post.
I read that Skye is distress and wanting to warn people that someone is misrepresenting themselves as someone involved in their company, using one of the alts Skye has or has some how hacked into her alt account.
I like Collete's question better.
Perhaps it should been, "What do if someone is misrepesenting the good name of your ALT and business and is trying to scam others out of money?"

OP was saying about people taking L$ directly instead of setting land to sell to a person. Reading 101 is in Kindergarden, or you can try Hooked on Phonics. I hear the tapes work really well.

As for the subject at hand *Sighs* as long as thigns of value exist, there will exist those who will exploit and take advantage of the unway, and uninformed. SL follows RL a bit too closely at times.

If someone is wearing her tag to misrepresent land sales on their group's behalf, the solution is to boot the person and file an abuse report.

It's up to the Lindens to take disciplinary action and no one else. Likewise, naming names in a personal profile is also a TOS violation.

The matter should end there.

It's abusing Resident Answers by posting a dispute with another resident. Nobody else can do that, why should they?

Um you should probably check every thread in last week too if you want to be Resmod and report them all.....if you really want something to do.

Actually, the original post could have been made without mentioning the name of the business; the post would have been just as good and no accusation of covert advertising could have been made.

My account was in no way, shape or form hacked.

There's someone who rented land from me who then told others that he was my alt (because I owned the group he was in) and tried to sell the land through fraudulent means by telling people things that are blatantly false - like you cannot sell land from a group.

The post was meant only as a warning to others not to get caught out by this person.

Anyone who sees land they want for sale and buys it will have no problem. If there's a scenario where someone wants you to give them money directly to buy land, I would advise to walk away.

He could not sell the land from the group because he was an officer of the group. He had ability to change and modify the land, but not to sell it. He apparently didn't realize this and tried to sell it to others saying he could invite them into the group as an owner.

He tried to create a new role and call the role "owner" but he didn't have the ability to put powers in the role so he wasn't able to dupe his victims into thinking they were the owners of the land. Instead, he just took their money.

As you said, if you are a real owner you certainly *can* sell land to someone by making them an owner of a group that holds land. And not all private deals are scams, but there have been 3 people defrauded in 2 days out of tens of thousands of lindens by this person. My goal is just to tell people not to pay money directly to an avatar claiming to be my alt. He is not. He is a lying dirtbag who leaves people with nothing.
