From: Rube Flatley I was told by another resident that there were bullets that would effectively kill an avatar in that it would essentially wipe out their inventory, profiles and so forth... putting you back where you were when you first entered through one of the welcome centers.
I'm not sure if this is an SL equivalent of an urban legend or in fact something that is possible. Looking for clarification. Fact or fiction. If fact, I'm surprised that SL wouldn't do something to block that. I play in damage-enabled combat sandboxes all the time. In experimenting with various weapons and scripts I have been "killed" many times. Not once have I lost an inventory item because of it. Not to worry.

And sometimes it goes batty and deletes things that are still in use. Textures are particularly bad about this. And sometimes the asset server just melts down... And for the Shredded Jesus, turn off hardware skinning.

Really. that's what it's called. "tattered," "scarecrow," and "shredded" will work too. It comes up from time to time. The solution is to uncheck the "hardware skinning" option somewhere in the custom graphic preferences.

You would have an energy level that had to be replenished with food, and you could actually be killed as in "Cancel Christmas". We had some fun discussions about it for a while. I forget his name. Yeah! Jamal I think. He wanted to be able to kill random passers by too. And charge $10 US for people to come back to life. fun guy. |
