Shoes and hair.. sculpted or not?

I've noticed in the 1.21 beta that scultpts are popping into their correct shapes super fast. I'm not sure if it's intended or not, because some other textures seem to be suffering in the process. But if that survives the whole RC thing, I think sculpties will be something people won't need to think twice about using any more.
