I can't buy, I get the timed out message. So I logged out, and now I can't log back in. :P

And, to make it even better, the SL site gives me:

HTTP 500 - Internal server error

I didn't get the 500 msg., but I couldn't take items I own back to my inventory. And I can not log in at the moment.

The blog says the database just crashed. Joy.

In World Services Down

Sunday, March 30th, 2008 at 2:05 PM by: Kate Linden
Our database has crashed and caused in world services to go down. We expect it will be ten minutes minimum before we are up and running again.

I get the 500 error when I try to get to my Account page. The blog entries and timestamps on confusing on the issue as the last message stating 'all clear' says it was posted at 16:05 PST, which hasn't happened yet today, but the overall entry has a last edited timestamp of 9:39 this morning.

In a nutshell, given all of the issues pretty much every day this week - we are probably having some kind of problem again.

NOTE: Current online is showing > 65k and we seem to encounter these issues more frequently whenever it goes over 60k.

edited: apparently the blog was being updated as I was typing.
another fun day in 'my world, my imagination'

Didn't they say the other day during the unexpected outage that they took the opportunity to make it so these problems wouldn't keep happening? And then it happened again the next day? And now it's happening today?

I guess today it was a different rubber band that broke, or a different piece of duct tape that came loose.

Not happy with this, but on the other hand, they have a streak going now - if we ever get a full day without trouble, they'll ruin the streak.

Well, more than just in world services are down. Logins are down, and the website is down for me too.

Crash and burn.

Might have to go on a bot hunt to get the concurrency numbers back down to a normal level when we get back on. :)

This last week to two weeks has been the worst period performance wise I have every experienced in SL. I've had to replace countless products because of failed asset transactions. Uploads fail, rezzing fails, textures are slow to download nomatter what client I use.

You know, normally I am very patient of SL's problems. However, now I am PISSED. These problems are consuming the entire grid, hurting businesses, and making it almost impossible to work. If SL's glitches are weather, we are experiencing a hurricane.

The link from the login page is taking you directly to a specific blog entry. You can go here to see all of the entries:

Yes, it was just Friday when they posted that on the blog. Of course their exact words were "which will HOPEFULLY prevent this from taking place in the future".

After it took me two hours to clear up transaction mess ups week before last, I gave up. I don't rely on sales anymore since too often something goes wrong. If it's not objects set for sale suddenly no longer for sale, it's items that never show up in the customers inventory.

"the database crashed" and they might be back in 10 minutes???

Bwahahahahaaaa!

Maaan if I were them I'd boot everybody and run a database reconciliation process before letting the kids back in the zoo again! Be happy that LL support is run by people who are more optimistic than I am, I guess.

Ditto. This is horrible. I had THREE people this week that couldn't pay a damn rental box to move in. They had to pay me directly(after waiting hours for me to get online). I had two current tenants that also couldn't pay their rent directly to the rental box and another one it took their money but didnt add on any time. I can't rez or attach anything half the time, my friends list is full of hippos, can't shop anymore,if i sneeze the wrong way I crash.. It's just unreal. I put around $500 USdollars a month into this game/world/whatever. I expect it to work at least 90 percent of the time the way it's supposed to.

Seems to me that ever since LL's migration to web-based services, these sorts of things have been happening more and more frequently. The web (I should say using the TCP/IP protocol instead) is not built with security from the ground up...instead, security and redundancy was patched into it.

I dunno if it's a good thing or not; but, seeing the recent crashes, in-world services unavailable, and just plain lag present, I would cast my vote for "HELP"!

The grid is not offline (yet), but concurrency is dropping fast, ~40K now. And ... it's been a half hour since the blog post.

The other day they upgraded from rubber bands to using pre-chewed gum. Unfortunately they used sugar-free, which doesn't have the holding power of regular gum.
