So if you register your "scripted agent," it counts in your Traffic totals? That's what I'm trying to figure out.
no it takes them out of the traffic count..

Noooo! I was a happy camper in my early days ... chatted and goofed around, made lots of friends, never went AFK (almost never). I know camping has gone downhill recently with camp-bots and stuff but I am sure there are a few genuine newbies out there, camping for their first few L$. Without that opportunity, I doubt I'd have stayed around. It seems you were a real happy camper and I don't think it wouldn't be bad at all if campers were generally prepared to chat with passers-by and even pick up a few tips on how to do other things in SL. Unfortunately that isn't the case: I make a point of greeting campers by name when I come across them and almost without fail they are idle. In over two years of consistently logging into SL, I have yet to have a response from one of them. So the end result is the same - campers are effectively bots because, more often than not, there is no live presence operating them. I can appreciate that there's an element of fun in earning lindens from day one and that it is even a little game in itself. Nevertheless, it is a very dry game when there is little or no interaction between the camper and other residents. I find it depressing that someone will use computer power, an internet connection and sim resources just to earn a pittance. Even as a newbie, I valued my time more against the outlay of a few dollars to buy lindens. |

So if you register your "scripted agent," it counts in your Traffic totals? That's what I'm trying to figure out. It doesn't mean that a box full of pure traffic bots is ok - it's not. They would still be there to manipulate the traffic figure whether they are registered or not, which is against the ToS. But what it does mean is that, any genuinely used bots can be registered as scripted agents and, therefore, should not be considered by LL as traffic manipulators, even though a side-effect is that they are. For instance, I have 6 store models - functional bots - and 4 bots on the ground below the store (3 castle guards and a damsel in distress). 10 bots altogether, and all adding to my traffic. They are all registered as scripted agents and should be immune from being seen as gaming traffic, even though they currently add to the traffic. I'd always intended adding more castle bots - a prisoner and a ghost - and I can now do it with impunity, even though they would add to my traffic. _____________________

On the other hand, someone posted to the blog yesterday or today. It was oppositional, so I replied in kind. Have you seen it?_____________________

I have been reporting this shop for a week now. They have dozens of campers each day to unfairly increase their land traffic. Abuse reports are NOT working. What else can be done? Germania Farrago 210 245 22 Xavier...."why" do the campers bother you? |

I'd always intended adding more castle bots - a prisoner and a ghost - and I can now do it with impunity, even though they would add to my traffic. I now have only 6 bots - 2 store models and 4 castle bots. Since I wrote that post, I received an email from LL to the effect that my 4 store demo models that were on sex beds, are not allowed in a mature sim. So I've taken them out. The 2 that are on a cuddle sofa are fine though. When the adult policy came in, I did wonder about the ones on the beds, even though they were out of plain sight. At first I removed them, but then I put them back and put more clothing on them. They had been minimally clothed before that. I'll query it with LL but I'm not complaining. _____________________
