Thanks for the suggestions everyone. :) I'll have a look at them soon as I can! Suzanna, I agree that while free style RP can be a wonderful thing I personally find it helpful to have some structure provided by a simple, intuitive rules framework. Hopefully, the system I am working on will provide a happy medium between free RP and chartmaster. :)

I simply meant, as pay to play goes, you have to buy a system, you have to buy items that work with that system...which is accurate in regards to Midian City's combat/game system.

In actuality, there are a variety of free items available for the system used in the Midian City community so that nobody is disenfranchised. The optional system itself has a nominal charge which is something Baal and I put a lot of consideration into early on and decided upon for several very specific reasons, but otherwise it is not necessary to purchase anything else.

Anyway, no biggie, just clarifying :) Congrats, by the way, on the opening of the new sim!

*waves and smiles* at Suzanna. To the op I can completely recommend City of Lost Angels (CoLA). I have played there for a fair while now and I love the roleplay there. The new island sim is also a fantastic build. BTW I am just a happy roleplayer - I am not employed by them or anything :)

Gor is a lifestyle essentially... its a type of slavery and bdsm that is described in many books, which take place on Gor, not Earth.

(Oh and if I piss off any gorean people with a bad explanation.. sorry. But I'm no expert =P)

Hi, not all of SL Gor is like this, some places are just role-plays (in Sim only and no OOC) and some places are role-play/lifestyle (spans all of SL and possibly RL also).
Some Gor places don't even have an established role-play system and are just used for residences, relationships or to train and learn about Gor. There are places where the life described in the books is played out as accurately as can be and places where they are more lax and possibly even deliberately change some things for their convenience.

The place I role-play Gor at is the city of Chiron and it is a lovely place with good people.
The island of Iaomai is perhaps the most gentle Gor place in SL and does not to my knowledge have role-play as such. It is more like the training/learning/residence places I noted above but its main emphasis is on people forming a relationship.

There is a lot of negativity about SL Gor and the subject matter is certainly a hot potato.
A lot of this stems from the actions of idiots just as it does in all areas of life, unfortunately we are judged by those people often. There are a lot of good people in SL Gor also. Sadly all Gor seems to be judged equally bad by those who do not take the time to find out about it before forming their opinion.

One thing to chew for all who may find SL Gor objectionable - many people would not have any issue with people role-playing a roman reenactment. However Rome had slaves also, and is it worse/less worse to reenact a real history where many really suffered? or to roleplay a fantasy where everyone who is playing, plays because they want to?

I hope this has been helpful to some curious about SL Gor :)

Oh and BTW I am not a slave in SL Gor but a free woman and your post didn't piss me off but I thought I would attempt to set the record straight so to speak. Safe Paths all :)

Try Everwind for some medieval RP (elves, drows, rangers, etc) - People already mentioned Toxian and City of Lost Angels but also try The Crack Den for inner-city RP (Dirty Cops, Mobsters, Pimps, etc) can be interesting and the RP is very elaborate - at least it was the time I visited.

There is a clearinghouse for RP sims somewhere but I don't recall the location - I'll look it up when I get in-world but that might not be for a few days.

Personally I'm still looking forward to Trout's guilt free debauchery tour.. I'm not sure if that will be RP, but it could be fun.
