From: Imnotgoing Sideways One thing I surely removed from my profile is any mention that I'm over 18. It should be SUPER BLOODY APPARENT by all means and for some people "I'm old enough to be here" translates to "Barn door's open, boys!" (>_< QUOTE] I luv that subtle approach

From: Gabriele Graves Actually not true, for some it is to be creative, run a business, play a specific game. The social aspect is just one of the things about SL, it does not need to be social.
I only meant that I cannot understand why someone would put that on a profile- if they wish to be undisturbed by others and anti-social then I would imagine finding a piece of land that they can be undisturbed on and disallowing anyone else access would be far more effective and in the odd casewhere someone does contact you - simply ignore them until they go away. Someone is far more likely to want to talk to you after seeing that on a profile - even just out of sheer devilry. Usually, the "I hate drama" types always seem to be right in the middle of it.

Someone is far more likely to want to talk to you after seeing that on a profile - even just out of sheer devilry. That's the thing. I've seen those profiles at places like Sweethearts Jazz Club, which is a SINGLES pick up area (I go there to make friends), and Frank's Place, and Bogarts, and Avilion. It baffles me. It's one thing to sit on your parcel of land and build if you don't want to interact, but why bother going to SOCIAL areas of the world if you aren't going to at least TRY to be social? And that's where a nice profile helps. My own profile talks about the work I do in sl, but also invites others to talk to me if they want. There's no reason for me to be antisocial.
