I just was reading this story on Fox News and it makes me 100% sick. I am so tired of this so called justice system locking up people who have a problem and letting the real problems roam free. And now this... This poor little girl.... You have to read this and send a e-mail or phone or something. http://blogs.discovery.com/criminal_report/2008/03/federal-prison.htmlFull story here.... http://www.ketv.com/news/15717572/detail.htmlThey let him see her for a few minutes then rush him back because some damn news van was out front. Who cares! Then this little girls has some sort of stroke after that... This really gets me.... http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,342253,00.html

Oh sorry forgot what jerks people can be here. Your right. My mistake. Here let me ask a question to fix it? Is the grid laggy at all today?
There feel better?

Voodoo, if I want news, I'm perfectly capable of finding it on my own without needing selective, kneejerk, sensationalised recommendations, thanks all the same.

You know I need to say something here most of the time I keep my mouth shut around here and let some of you "holly SL rollers" think your god and all that and say what you will because one I don't loose sleep over it and 2 what ever turns your crank but this does not even have anything to do with me, its about a little girl and your still acting like a noob. One of the things I have always enjoyed about SL is the people and I am sorry but some of you in this forum really give SL a bad name. There are other words for it but I would rather not get myself banned and your not worth the ban.
That being said you wonder why this forums has rather died and why people hang at other forums outside the real SL forum? Or better yet you wonder why we now have a mod who goes around moving and removing threads?
Or better yet you wonder why the mods will not longer kiss your rear end like your gods around here and answer your childish questions.... Reflect back on this post and your comments and then ask yourself why some more. I am rather shocked they have not just closed this down yet but I guess they don't want to let a few bad apples destroy it for everyone else. I guess I should have said "pie" some place in here to make it ok.
And by the way for the people who sent me some private IM's just now thank you. There are alot of us who feel that way too.
Have a great day!

Hi Voodoo,
You're understandably upset, the story is a sad one and when you used the Forum here to express how you felt.. you weren't exactly dealt with sympathetically.
I also understand your frustration that such a really sad situation is not open for discussion here, while the fact that a person who is "worried" about the shape of her avatar's eyebrows raises such sympathy.
At the end of the day, I guess this board is specifically for issues related however tenuously to SL, and if everyone posted a thread about RL news stories that affected them.. any SL thread would disappear to the 10th page within minutes.
There are lots of news or politically related boards out there where your feelings would have been dealt with more sympathetically and discussed seriousy.
I know that's not very satisfying, particularly if SL feels almost like home, but that seems to be the way things are.
Maybe you could suggest a separate SL board where we are allowed to raise "off topic" issues?
Stephen

Thanks Stephen and your right and the more I think about it I should have not posted it here I guess but what burns me is that there are other posts here that have nothing to do with helping others in SL either for example "pie" and forum clans or whatever they call themselves and yet these people get a free pass on this forum or at least they did before the new mods. But like I said either way your right and I will keep it to myself next time. But thanks for understanding.

From: Rioko Bamaisin Meth addiction is a very REAL problem. I feel empathy for the little girl,it's just too bad her father didn't before he decided to use drugs. I can't fathom people who put drugs before their children. It's sickening. That little girl is better off without him anywhere near her. JMO.
Back to SL topics... pie..... Ok.. well here goes my name onto yet another ignore list. Rioko, you correctly talk about Meth "Addiction", and then proceed to blame the father for taking an incorrect decision. I guess there was a "decision" at some point in the past to try it for the first time, much as for the food addict there was the decision to eat that first meal, or the nicotine addict to take that first puff. Once Addiction takes hold however, it removes the ability to take a rational decision in certain contexts..there is no "decision making" process for someone who is suffering addiction. I recognise it is JMO, and many people will support you in it, except perhaps the young girl and her mother. Obviously this is a can of worms and not for this Board, so sorry for responding.

Unfortunately Bamboo they do not have a general discussion section here, though I do agree things like this should be posted somewhere there is general discussion. RA is meant for residents to get helpful guidance from their piers, it should be used for that reason, not everyone does. Every once in a while there is something that upsets us though and we want to express it. The best you can do is before posting take a deep breath, then post it in the right places, or discuss it with friends. We should not follow others bad examples it just adds to the forum being sidetracked further. Also it should be noted that some people that are not interested are not cold hearted inhuman beings. We just have enough of our own problems that we are not interested in seeking out those of others far removed from out RL or SL situations.

This wouldnt be General Discussion in the sense of the old GD forum, it would be off-topic.
There was an off-topic forum of course, but it was less frequented than the GD forum ..
Precisely because these sorts of issues were a bit much to discuss alongside not getting your stipend, or your avatar being ruthed, etc.
That isn't to say its not a topic worth discussing.
Just that even the people who want Resident Answers to be General Discussion again .. don't really want it to be a Off-topic Forum.
I think they should open both of them back up. The problem is getting anyone who works for LL to agree.

I am sorry you're upset, stuff like that upsets me too. I won't even go look at the links because it will cause me nightmares for days because I am survivor of many unspeakable things from my own first life childhood. Regardless of what reality we are in, first or second life it seems it is unfair. The richer get richer, the criminals often get away with doing whatever more often then getting caught, and Yes things in SL are incredibly laggy, TP, object rezzing, uploads, textures are rezzing properly.

Then again it always seems to depend on who the poster is that determines if the post is deemed acceptable or not regardless what the subject happens to be.

I see your point about people shooting down thread topics they don't like based on the thread starter .. Still, you can't make people discuss something they don't want to talk about. That and threads that begin with links never do as well, especially not after Torley turned off the BBC code. If VooDoo had cut and pasted some of the article texts into his Original Post, he might have had more response (both on the topic and decrying the "thread's appropriateness"

Thanks for reminding me. It's time to call another secret meeting to discuss who is acceptable this month. Refreshments will be served.

I cant believe I am saying this, but I agree with Ricardo. I have stayed away from the forums for the past couple of weeks because it was IMO getting silly. No offence is meant to one person here.. but what with in your face wedding planning, cheesecake competitions and all you can eat pie buffets it was just getting to much. I have noticed threads where "off topic" stuff is posted and the pie brigade jump all over it and share the munchies, giggling amongst themselves in between mouthfuls of yummy pies.....LOL.. I have also seen other threads posted where people ask a genuine question.. Chaos anyone? And that poster or others have been jumped all over with the rolling eyes coming out in force.. I respect your opinion Brenda as you well know and I do enjoy chatting with you.. but the response that I have quoted of yours does serve to cause others to bite.. See I did!

There are a lot of nonsense threads that don't pertain to Residents Answers here and there is always someone posting saying that it shouldn't be posted here and then that person will post a nonsense thread and someone will post saying it shouldn't be posted here and then THAT person will post a nonsense thread...........it's a vicious cycle!
Voodoo, I didn't read the article because I'm work but I do plan on reading it. I personally don't have a problem with this thread, but there will always be opposition and dealing with opposition with name calling isn't the best way to deal with it, IMO.

Bite away, it doesn't bother me in the least. Most of what Harris and others say is true. When things get messy, i step away too for a bit. Sometimes I read and don't respond. Sometimes I don't read them for aawhile. But whatever the case is I try not to get all worked up over what goes on here. it just isn't that important.

I did read that article last night...so sad, Voodoo..I know, sometimes it seems like the world is just crazy, and upside down. But, Id rather read this post than one about pie, and I also didn't have a problem with this post. If someone did, then dont read it, it really isnt hurting anyone.
