may have been mentioned before, but ctrl+alt+v (view admin options) also allows you to fly in fly restricted zones as well.

Ctrl-Alt-Shift-= Turn particle effects on/off.
Ctrl-Alt-Shift-3 Remove all Linden trees. This is a toggle... press again to turn trees back on.
Ctrl-Alt-Shift-5 Remove ground cover. This is a toggle... press again to turn ground cover back on.

Shift and Drag Copy object in edit

Pan and Zoom Camera: To pan around an object hold down the Alt key and left-click an object or avatar then use the left and right arrows to pan around & page up and page down to zoom in & out (this function goes circular around an object).

Strafe Camera: Hold down Ctrl-Alt-Shift and left-click an object or avatar then use the arrow keys to strafe left right up or down. (this goes vertical and horizontal on an object view).




(That is probably so old there could be some errors, and of course it's at least mostly redundant.).

Another place to search for this stuff is in the source code. :)

And of course just going through the menus, reading every option, trying every option that makes any sense to try, using the keyboard shortcut to activate it. If you use the mouse, read the keystroke anyway - you might find one useful even if you are mostly a mouse person.

I'm sure there is a comprehensive list of the Client Server menu shortcuts but I can't remember where.

I know everyone else acts like the typing anim is the worst thing since VAT, but in addition to thinking it's cute, and just sooo SL, I think that it makes communication much clearer and easier.

Without it, how many times would people just walk away from you because they just thought you were staring at them, when in actuality you were trying to finish typing a sentence?

Some more for photographers

CTRL + 8 Zoom out, good if you get in close for that wide fisheye look too.

CTRL + 9 Re-set zoom (Do this before you move away or you will throw up)

CTRL + 0 Zoom in - Stand back a bit from your model - zoom in and you get a telephoto look to the image, the model really stands out. Super-cool, and if used from the floor and panned up, it gives the 'power look' to a girl.



Ohhh and another to fix the ugly horizon line in sunset shots


CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + 8 (toggles on and off)


Write them on a post-it and stick on the wall -cos you will never find them when needed in a hurry



oh yes.... one more, took my GF a year to find this one and shes a talented foxy number who likes sexy roleplay - so i was surprised to find out she did not know it.

A lot of typing issues can be resolved with CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + TAB + F6 + K + H

After you do that, you have to go away and do something in RL while the pain eases.

I know that F11 makes SL full screen. Not sure if it is useful for anyone but still.
Oh, and there was something where you repeatedly press a button and your view goes all wierd in mouselook.
One i tested last night after finding it is another thread is Ctrl-Shift-R - makes everything go into wire mode. It looks so funky lol.

X Quiet snapshots to disc (I think thats right, I am nowhere near the SL client)


Don't bother with the option for high-rez images, they are exactly the same unless on an old 800x600 graphics card.

Compress images - this makes them into jpeg 2000 files
but stupidly it adds the suffix *.j2c
if you change the suffix to *.jpe they will open in your photo processor.
they are the same -just named wrongly; Lindens -you Fools!

A lot of people don't know about the 'default action' option in the 'general tab' of the edit window.


(missed this earlier)... Boy do I *LOVE* this feature...

I have a hot air balloon intra-sim transporter, the default action on it is sit.

Getting from one of my places to another only requires two left clicks! =)

if you use SLProxy, you can see the sim and location of anyone who sends you a instant message or a inventory offer.

allways funny to just pop up next to someone when they /msg hi to you ;)

Key Command for About Land Window

Hello.

Quick question I can't seem to find an answer to anywhere....what is the keyboard command for the World->About Land window in the client? I DON'T WANT TO USE THE MOUSE AT ALL TO REACH THIS WINDOW. I use that a lot...and wonder how to get to it via the keyboard. My keyboard can do marcos, etc. But, I need access to the key commands to get it to work (at least I think so)...so, anyone have a clue? Thanks.

I don't think there is a keyboard short cut but to save you a click.. click the name of the place you're at instead of going to world - about land.

Does anyone know which short cut takes away alpha maps? My transparent HUD went gray and my AO now has a white background instead of transparent.. I type so fast sometimes I'm hitting weird keys so I don't know what set it off.

It's client>character>show look at. It's amusing in busy spots, to see clusters of them looking at the least expected features.
