I'm sorry to "spam" the SL forum. But I need to get enough respondents. FYI, I've also been into SL to ask people.

The more you bump this, the *less* likely you will get responses and the greater chance people will view you and your work in a negative fashion.

I realize that there are limited SL last names to choose from when I registered this account. Hence, I feel that Linden labs could exploit this by charging SL users for their desired last names. Of course, guidelines should be in place with regards to what words can be used, etc.

They already do:

Upon creation of a Custom Surname, the account designated as owner is billed a $500 Setup fee plus the first annual $500 fee. On each anniversary date, the owner is billed $500 to retain Custom Surname ownership. Last names must clearly be an organizational or corporate name, and distinguished from personal last names. For example, Smith is not acceptable, but SmithCorp, SmithInc, SmithProducts or SmithConstruction are. Names that are clearly composite or made up (SecondLife, Agilent) will be considered.
Edit: And it occurs to me that there was a reason for you posting something random like that. Silly me for replying... and bumping the thread back up...

Perhaps this study is more ambitious than I thought. I naively thought that the question about rez date was for cross-section analysis, but now I realize it's a longitudinal study. This thread will keep getting bumped periodically until generations of residents have responded. It's our chance for statistical immortality!

Chill. This thread won't be here for eons. I'll be collating the results probably by tomorrow to start writing the report.
