Is that the documentary I saw when I was in Canada not long ago? It was very interesting. Bit highbrow for some people however, Bilbo. They used long words.
By the way this is taking many attempts to post since 503 is cropping up again. _____________________

Isn't it the one discussed here last week. The "Second Life has ruined my Marriage" nonsense? Someone posted here they were asked to participate, but when they told the producers that they had a positive story, they were told, "No Thanks."

Brenda, there was one I saw on CBC Newsworld, lasted about an hour I think - I was half-watching coz I was in "down-time" (and effing scared I was gonna be shown in a free sex sim). But it dealt with financial and social implications. Quite well done. As usual, however, academics jumped onto bandwagon and got it all wrong. Educators as Prophets of Our Age and all that crap.

/327/f1/237391/1.html It doesnt look good for SL, either in this review or in the 'previews' Ive seen on the beeb. _____________________

I'm not in the UK but I do get UK TV via satellite, so I'm gonna record it right after Torchwood...which is funny cos believe it or not, Torchwood brought me to SL.
(There was a take on SL called "Second Reality" in one of the Torchwood novels and I was flabbergasted to find out something like that EXISTED and that the stuff in the book was actually a pretty good description...and I was quite abashed cos I hadn't known about SL before even though I am a major geek....) _____________________

Do people here still enjoy playing? If I watch it, it's just so I know what to expect from the people at work who know I play. I'm actually not very interested in this programme. _____________________

Just read it. Confirms pretty much what I was thinking really, and nice to see that there's no bias isn't it.
Backs up what Nicholas said in the earlier thread about them not being interested in people who had a good and positive story - only looking for a train wreck. _____________________

Very biased ... but then, not everyone falls for an avatar huh ... and if you are vulnreable it's easy to get into something that gets you through the day (I was guilty of this after my dad died but in retrospect it was far less damaging than what virtually everyone else I know who has been bereaved has been through).
Gutter journalism ... I weep for UK television. We used to be great, now it's 90% reality TV and bollocks. Ironically I got a 32 inch TV on Saturday. Will be great to watch DVDs on ![]() _____________________

For all the folks who missed it, or just unlucky(?) enough not to get the BBC (most) then here it is...

The situation with the woman who went AFTER the SL relationship was over was totally engineered of course. It didn't convey the world I know tho the couple who got together ... her mother being all delighted about their marriage and saying it was "just nice" rings very true.
Mental Mentors were having a field day with it ... my favourite quote was "omg what are they doing? SHAKING each other?" Urgh! It wasn't as bad as I thought, I got badgered into watching it, at least when everyone I work with watches it I can be scathing with informed opionion instead of just dismissive ![]() _____________________
