I am using the latest official client, 1.18.3(5). I have the latest motherboard and Nvidia drivers. I've virus scanned and altware scanned.
Yet, almost every time I swivel quickly with my camera, the client freezes up. Am I the only one ? TIA for your time.

you're not the only one.
this doesn't happen to me everytime i swivel but it happens frequently enough to have become more and more annoying.
it may be a coincidence but it seems to have started around the time voice was added.

I once noticed that when I was in a shop and turned round, I froze while the textures in the new view loaded, then when turning back, the original textures had to load again. I've been keeping an eye out of the telltale grey but not seen it. I still get the freeze though.

Oh, this drives me crazy when I'm building! I turn around the object I'm working on and it freezes, causing me to have to interrupt the flow of creativity to wait for it to unfreeze.

Driving me crazy too... not only is it freezing regularly on alt-zoom, but it also causes crashes... A real pain when building

I get this a few times per hour while building. I've also had one hard-lock in the last few days under the same circumstances (alt-dragging the camera).

Happens to me. Not all the time. But every time it does happen, it's when I'm swiveling the camera around.
The freeze lasts up to 15 seconds (which seems like a long time) or so...then everything is normal again.

This happens to me sometimes--by the look of the framerate, the sound of the harddrive and audio, and the occasional temporary freezing... I try not to tempt fate. The reason it happens to MY system--I imagine--is that I'm running on 7-year-old hardware. Dual P3 1ghz (2 seperate 1ghz) 1 gig Sdram Geforce FX 5600 (256sd) Win Xp Pro Because of my obviously oldman benchmark...Second Life walks all over my specs. And from time to time, SL locations that are complex will slow my performance down to a turtle-putz. If your rig isn't relatively recent--I suggest you slow down your manual camera pans and dollies.

This one has been around for the last several updates. It seems worse on the less-powerful systems, and my personal suspicion is it has to do with the rate at which new texture information is coming in. You pan to look at a completely different area, and suddenly have lots and lots of new objects and textures to draw, and *WHAM*. Sometimes it is just a brief freeze, and sometimes you redmap and entirely lose the connection to the servers, requiring a re-login.
VERY annoying!

Very annoying. Also been having some hellish log-ins (slow, stuck for a bit at 10,10,10, ruthed, etc.), an sometimes 1 second stalls when someone on my freidns' list logs in and I get their little blue notice. Mari

I was getting this as well, and I do not have old hardware.
Intel e6700 dual core 2x Nvidia 8800GTS 640mb 4gb RAM
This started as soon as I had to 'upgrade' to the voice enabled viewer. I installed the Nicholaz view and have not had it happen since.

Its rampant on the grid since the intro of voice.
I don't understand why they do not take voice out... no one likes it and few use it.

I noticed a lot of people seemed to think this was an Nvidia problem, but it happens to me as well and I have an ATI card (Radeon x1650 pciE, 2gb Ram, cable modem). Very annoying.

SJ i have an ATI card as well (x1650 pro), dual athlon processors and 2 gigs of ram. so they can't blame it on hardware.

I voted. It's annoying. When it happens I have to let go of my mouse and let it spin for a while or else it might crash.

This bug used to make me crash all the time. I have low-end computers, have been using the Nicholaz viewer for months.
However, it hasn't happened to me for a month or so. I know at one time Nick looked at a few of my crashes and didn't see anything particular to fix ... maybe he gave it more thot and nailed it tho ... you might try his viewer.

I don't understand why they do not take voice out... no one likes it and few use it. Oh, let me tell you, and then you will understand. It would mean admitting they were wrong in ignoring all the people that told them introducing voice was a bad idea.
