I can't get second life to run. This doesn't happen too often. The regular viewer produces a black screen and then just stops. No login screen. Same thing for the Mono viewer.

Same old machine as always, Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz with an ATI radeo x800, 1 gig ram, 256 megs video ram.

I installed Kodak EasyShare software following buying a digital camera.

have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling SL

Could be the new software overwrote something it shouldn't have

or unintalling the Kodak stuff. I have an old Kodak digital cam and I found you don't need that software to transfer or view your pictures.

I have done a simple uninstall of SL so far.

I am waiting for the uninstall programs list to populate and will then uninstall the regular SL client and the Kodak software, then do a system restore, if I can, to a few days ago. Also I will manualy delete the cache, the settings file, and the program folders.

Hmm, the Kodak software insisted on updating quicktime.

The Kodak uninstall produced a dialog saying "all devices using this driver will be removed. Proceed?" but it said nothing about what driver it was talking about. EasyShare seemed pretty annoying anyway, it had an interface full of gradients. Pfft.

I bought a kodak camera for my son. Thought I was getting a good deal but it eats batteries like they're popcorn. Will never buy another one of their products.

I'm enjoying the crap out of my new Flip video camera though.

Well, I had system restore turned off for a reason a while back and forgot to turn it back on, so no system restore points are available.

I had changed a region and locale setting because the Kodak setup had Chinese characters where it should have had English. My change should have been making the system more normal.

I hated the Kodak software because it seemed to take over my system when ever I plugged the camera in and started downloading files in locations I didn't want. I have a Canon Rebel XT and usually use the Canon Software for downloads. Sometimes I'll use Photoshop Elements or Lightroom for downloads, but not too often.

Sounds like you may need to talk to support.
