Do you like stores with everything or stores with one thing?

A store with everything would be something like a clothing store that also sells skins, shoes, jewelry and other things. A store that sells one thing would be a store that just sells one thing like skins. With teleportation we don't really need the convenience of having everything under one roof but a full-service store could provide an unified 'look' for your avatar. What is your preference when shopping?

I like both. Just like in RL, I love going to Macy's or Nordstrom's I enjoy going to Nine West, or DSW. All shopping is good.

I guess you could say I like stores that sell one thing. But .. it really does not matter as long as the store is laid out well. Hair, clothes, shoes and everything else all jumbled together is not fun to shop through. I like the way Argrace is done, tho. Each department is whole and separate, easy to browse and all right there together.

I prefer specialty stores since I find, generally speaking, the quality of goods tends to be higher than one that has a really diverse product line. Specialty places seem to just get really good at their particular craft. There are definitely exceptions to this of course.

From an avatar customization standpoint, I can see having a range of fashion type items to be helpful for those looking for one stop shopping but I still kinda like mixing and matching items. It's probably more helpful when you're new to have everything under one roof when you might not know of good places to shop. After you've been around for a while, I think a lot of people like to look unique with more of a customized look from a diverse set of content creators.

I'm like Josh - I have found that I usually prefer the dresses that come from stores that only do clothing rather than someone that does clothing and a ton of other things.

I also like stores that focus on one or two product types and do them very, very well.

I won't even TP to places that have this kind of listing: scripts, gadgets, BDSM, beds, furniture, skins, dresses, shoes, jewelery, fountains, chairs, hair, mens, womens (insert long chain of marginally related keywords here.)

Specialists and small boutiques tend to grab my imagination, and I'm wary of some stores which claim to do it all as they can be a little generic and ordinary in style. (I know there are exceptions, and some larger stores do employ specialist creators to cover the details).

I do enjoy shops which have a fuller range, but limit to a particular look, like Artilleri, or Ingenue.

Themed shopping districts are fun too..as wondering from small shop to shop within a larger authentic atmosphere is very immersive.

Stores that specialize.

I want to feel like I'm experiencing one person's vision and skill.

Imagine Breach weapons lost in the noise of a department store.

It's just not the same thing.

I'm not fussed either way, it's navigating a store that bothers me, if I can't find the item I'm looking for easily it becomes a chore.

One thing. Unless, the creator is really good at lots of different things, like Emaleigh Guyot. I'd rather see one thing done really really well, than a lot of things done not so well. Adora's the only store I've ever been to that passes that particular muster, for me.

I'd rather go to a small store whether they specialize in one item or a lot of things. It's the rezz time and lag from too many textures that puts me off of bigger stores.

I still go to big stores too though -- just sayin' I'm more comfortable in smaller ones.

I look for shops that specialize.....it doesn't need to be one thing....but it has to be one catagory. Clothing, furnishings.....and so on. I will NOT even bother to look in a shop that lists a huge assortment of seemingly unrelated items. That just immediately tells me there's probably no single good quality item, but a mish-mash of cheapo stuff geared toward new folks or bargain basement shoppers. It's just been my experience over the last 3 years......

I'm the same way IRL......if I want shoes....I go to a shoe store.....or a reputable web site that I know sells quality shoes. I hate malls and I only go if there's ONE place I need to get something that happens to be IN a mall.

In SL I don't like to have to search thru chaos to find something and often times when I'm shopping, I'm looking for very very specific items, so the idea of wasting time in a laggy cluster f* of content is totally unappealing. :p That said....I DO enjoy really nicely designed shopping districts.....like ducknipple is kind of fun. Areas that resemble real world quaint shopping zones with boutiques and specialty shops lining the street....that's kind of fun. I have found all sorts of really high quality things from browsing funky shopping districts. I think, honestly, the level of creativity and attention to detail in the area itself.....often dictates the quality of items sold within the shops.

If it looks like a bunch of cardboard boxes thrown together with rental signs taped to them.....I'm likely to find crap......if it looks like I've landed in a dreamscape with every detail carefully designed....I'll probably find some good stuff! ;)

My favorites are usually themed stores (Victorian menswear, most often). Most do focus on one type of item, but it is always nice to find some accessories to complete an avatar (AOs. maybe hair and other related touches) at the same store, although these are not always made by the store owner. I dislike "everything" stores that sell large quantities of items that took very little time or effort to make. On the other hand, Bare Rose sells a wide variety of men's and women's clothing that is well made and covers a number of themes, and the shop is well organized, so it is possible to do well. In the end, I guess it is more important that the shop have well-made merchandise to attract my attention, and including low-quality filler to make a shop bigger detracts from the overall impression of the store.

I like stores that have things in them that I like. Some of these are boutiques with one type of item, others are shops where the creator makes more than one kind of thing well.

If I have trouble figuring out where to go in a store, I go home. So I tend to like smaller stores.

Actually, I buy almost everything on XST while sitting in my SL hot tub. That way, I'm already nekkid to try stuff on when it arrives. /me giggles

I like both, for sure. Most of the time I end up buying from a store that does one thing, rather than many.

More important than that though, is navigation of the store. And while many will disagree, I strongly dislike single 'click-to-scroll' vendors that sell many items. :)

like stores with good things. If the maker is doing what they do best, it doesn't matter to me if they only make a single pair of shoes or head-to-toe avatar outfits. (^_^)y

Same here, which is why I prefer small stores with a specialization.

This too ^^

I have literally begun to detest those types of vendors.

I like stores that concentrate on whatever the store owner makes. If it turns out that the store owner makes mostly one thing, then you'll get a store that's mostly one thing. If the store owner makes a variety of things, then you'll get a variety of things.

What I don't like is having to teleport all over creation to see what someone's repertoire is because they didn't want to mix up their left-handed earlobe wrenches with their hand-tatted pterodactyl-down pillows.
