From: Darien Caldwell LL does have an approved exchange list:
http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/L$_Marketplace
And yes, it's simply those that do use the Risk API. There's a world of difference between "approved by LL" and "approved to use the Risk API". Exchanging the latter with former is deceptive, not simplying. (And yes, it could be the language barrier, but it just leaves a bad impression with me, and the logo is more significant anyway if it's fake)

BUt LL does say on that page they only list 'high quality resellers', and that they will remove an exchange which acts in bad faith. So intentional or not, LL is giving a stamp of approval to sites it lists there.

Here are questions to ask yourself.
If this company rips you off, what recourse do you have?
What means do you have to verify their claims?
If you can't independently verify what they claim, and/or they would be unreachable by you if they rip you off, then doing business with them is a high risk. Don't give them money (or access to your financial information), unless you have money to burn. Doing business with them, as their agent, could make you a target for liability if they use you to rip off people.

Honestly, being two years old now, I have seen my share of scams. Some in the millions of USD. And will never apply to such a service. Whether they are legit or not, no clue. But I just use the Lindex.
The truth is you have no legal recourse for such a scenerio. And if you did, it would cost you a fortune to get an international court to hear the claim at that.
