I use slx a lot, but I've never bought a thing directly off of it. I usually look at stuff there while I'm at work and then check out the things that look interesting and buy in game.

From: Sensual Casanova Edit to add: I just looked you up on SLX, and in my opinion you are pricing way too high for a picture, a picture that people can find the same or similar for free on google... I suggest a new line of business. Ok, I'll start designing sexbeds, tattoos and clothing tonight One a more serious note; remember that as I said above, I am satisfied with my in-world sales, but not satisfied with SL Exchange sales. In the circumstances, I would rather make a decision about how I do things on SL Exchange. It could be: 1- Finding ways for my offer to be more attractive on the site or 2- Making the decision not to sell on that site if it doesn't offer me a market. I do recognize one thing after taking one more look. The thumbnails I put on SL Exchange do not represent the objects I sell because they 1- reduce details 2- make the pics absolutely blurred. Therefore, the thumbnails on the Web site are less interesting to look at than the photos in the in-world gallery. And I believe this does not help.

Aleisa I think most people will look at your stuff online but go to see it in world before buying it. It may well be that many of the in world sales you get are as a direct result of people seeing your work on slx. Can you include a notecard with items you sell asking people where they heard of you/your shop and asking them to return it to you? It might be that only a percentage of people would return these, but at least you'd get some idea of where your customers are coming from.

I use slx quite a bit but I am rather disappointed by the lack of atomic / nuclear reactors and fissile material to power my skystation.

From: Kalderi Tomsen We do a fair bit of trade through SLX. Some people like to use it to browse and then will buy through there, some prefer to come in-world and get the "shopping experience" with us. It's nice that we have both ways of browsing, and that it's not costly. We don't mark up anything - we sell that the same price - we figure that SLX takes its cut from us as the price of doing business, we don't think it's right to make the consumer pay for that. I agree with that thinking. coco

From: Matthew Dowd I prefer to see what I'm buying.
So I tend to use SLEx to find out about things, but then go in world to actually find the object (either through the location listed in the SL Exchange entry, or by looking up the seller and checking their picks).
Some vendors mark up the SLEx price slightly to cover the commission SLEx charge, so sometimes you find the item cheaper if you buy in world anyway.
Matthew I do the same thing. I can find what I want easier on SLX and then I buy it inworld. I do also buy things from SLX on impulse though if they aren't too expensive.

I apologize, looking back at my post I was a bit insulting and I didn't mean to be... and I was just giving my opinion, if you make good sales in world, that's wonderful, I couldn't see a market for it, but hey that's great! SLX is free, if you don't sell anything, you don't lose anything, it would be silly to take them down simply because you haven't made a sale. If anything consider it free advertising.

For better sales in SLX I would improve on the pictures of what you are selling. I saw pictures of the products on SLX, and they look as though they were taken from your store in world on some kind of an angle.

I like SLX and OnRez both. I like being able to search for an item and look at offerings from several creators, rather than having to TP to a dozen stores in-world.
As for my sales ... I am a free account , don't have land, don't rent land, don't have a store. I do have agreements and have a couple of vendors in-world, but the bulk of my sales come from the Exchange.
I do have my photo studio and gallery in-world, but I do not sell my products there ... the studio is strictly for my photo biz.
