Yesterday, I noticed my Lost and Found Folder was suddenly full of items that appeared out of nowhere. I recognized some as things missing as long as 5 months ago. I posted a notice to my group for people to check their lost and found, and sure enough many had items returned to them that they had lost, in some cases, hundreds or even thousands of items. We have just completed a project that recovered a large set of missing inventory items.
You can check your Inventory “Lost & Found” folder for possible returned items.
The best way to see whether any of your things have been recovered is to clear your Second Life Viewer cache, restart your Second Life Viewer, log back inworld and then check your Inventory. Any recovered items will be located in their owner’s “Lost & Found” folder.
These particular recovered items were not showing up in Residents’ inventories because they did not have a parent folder. Please note that items lost for other reasons would not be affected by this project.
Generally, if you suspect an inventory loss problem, the first thing to do is clear your cache and relog. For more information see the Wiki Inventory page.
We are working on a patch that will put any items that become lost in future because of a missing parent folder problem into the “Lost & Found” folder automatically upon relogging. I am very surprised they didn't make this more public, as many I'm sure do not check their lost and found on a regular basis. i got my ao back witch i was going crazy about loosing due to the detach bug i even put in a saport ticket....im so happy i got it back...ill have to check my lost and found

I saw the notice earlier today and then looked in Lost & Found. A few dozen items had returned, including some things I had searched for just last week.

Well, my Lost And Found is still empty so either I have not lost anything or they have not found it.
Nice to know they are working on recovery of stuff here though.

Attachment scripts that I have are still showing "Script is missing from database" on opening, so obviously they didn't fix THAT problem.

I lost about 5k items a few months ago. I wish they had come home wagging their tails behind them, but no such luck. Oh well, it was mostly freebies anyway.....

Why yes, I *did* find something...
A while back I "accidentally" autoreturned my stuff from my land. I thought it was lost, but found a 1 prim item in my lost and found that was no longer a 1 prim item.. (shows as "multiple object" in inventory) I was told objects sometimes were returned bundled up in one, so that could explain it. I rezzed it on the ground and it went *poof*, never to be seen again I thought.. But here it is again, re-appeared in my inventory.
Problem is.. The object won't rez at all.. Anyone know what the problem might be?

i received a few things in my Lost and Found that i had forgotten about, but the 2 things i was most seeking (a pet and a house) were not there. anything in my lost and found that's collated disappears upon rez attempt. it sucks if there is a no copy item among the objects, which is the case of the house.

Sounds like my problem.. Only the first time, when it DID disappear, it was no copy since there would be no copy items within. And now it only appears to be no mod..

Ack nevermind. tried rezzing with the edit window open, and it revealed that the object had rezzed every time, way above my skybox.. And all it was bundled with was freebie cuddle poses.. *sigh*

My lost and found looks about like it's looked for weeks. I'm a pretty fastidious builder since I use sandboxes all over the place. What I did notice was last night, the building program failed to read and load nearly ninty percent of my textures. A few hours later, the problem fixed itself.
The other thing I noticed was that yesterday (Wednesday), I created a pair of shoes that did not save. I had the texture uploaded so I just made them again. I just shrugged at the glitches.

Just on a personal note. I know that LL dont always get stuff right, but I joined about a year ago and it was really sucky then and I only got 167L for my RL$ the first time I bought lindens because the Lindex thingy wasn't working as well as it does now and I had a hairy bum most of the time when I didnt have my head stuck in the same place and I crashed lots and I got orbited and caged and I bought stuff that I later found out was freebies and stuff kept disappearing out my inventory and I would click once on Buy and end up paying twice and umm! well lots other things. But I got stubborn and refused to quit =)
Im glad I didnt because I look at what SL is now and what it was then and its just so much better now. Is still a few things that I would like to work better, like sim crossings, but I'm quite happy really =)

Hmm I'm still missing a 20x10m concrete slab I accidently added a zero too in co-ordinates, if it's in your lounge room I appologise and if you coul please put it on the roof racks and drop it back my shopping centre on Desire on some road going through it.

*sigh* if I did get recovered things, I lost them for good now. I get things returned al the time and empty my lost and found without looking at least once a day - and I was in world most of the day yesterday.
