Wouldn't surprise me much. Anshe Chung has a significant stake in SLExchange, and if you've looked at the amazing shrinkage rate of Dreamland lately, she's got to be hurting for cash.

Plus SLExchange is just the sort of "enhanced web service" that LL has been talking about for the past year. Especially the ability to transfer L$ from one resident to another from the web. As users, we are probably better off with LL buying a service that does that and works, rather than having them build their own.

If this is true, I hope OnRez can step up and become a more viable competitor.

I've noticed this as well. I remember Dreamland being one huge continent with not spaces between sims, but I went their yesterday and I noticed I had to TP from Island to Island. I wonder if she is hurting or if she is just starting to "cash out."

Bought BOTH of them, eh? OK. Well, I understand why they canceled the vendor project. Probably bought XStreetSL for the marketplace, and OnRez for the networked vendors (crappy ones, at that).

I wonder if the ads will start having to be careful about not using the words From and Select and such in a manner that resembles an SQL query.

seriously, i am sick to my stomach.
ll will not be able to help themselves, they will bork slx and make it nearly incompatible with paypal, unstable, and it will become overrun by thieves and scammers.

RIP slx.

onrez has a GOLDEN opportunity to make up lost ground. i hope they dont squander it.

The Xstreet team is going to still work on Xstreet but you know how that goes...

worse is that now the fees for listings will probably go up and xstreet speedy currency exchange will go away.

i wonder why they didnt just gom it?
this really blows. for being 'hands off' ll sure love to meddle and involve themselves in everything. no doubt they smelled money and figured they had to have it for themselves. i cannot wait to see how they blow out the rates and whatnot. i bet slxterminal bigwig is going to start taking a 10% cut of every transfer too.

I suspect that many content creators will go away as well, if this ends up being as horribly managed as Second Life currently is.

Honestly, one of the biggest factors in my remaining active in SL is my ability to conveniently cash out using SLX/XStreetSL. Without that, and having logins disabled on a daily basis most often during my prime hours of availability, there's not much point.

I sure hope it turns out better than I expect it to.

so much for investing anymore..i'm waiting to see what happens..i'll just hold off for now..
there are too many changes going on in too many places with sl right now and too many rumors of changes..
this xstreet thing, the 18 grid merge and possible changes to the search or whatever they have for that whole thing..
bleh..too unstable of a feeling right now..
it's like a freaking roulette table right now

what the creator of xstreetsl should do now is release the source code for everything and let someone put up a copy :)

or just write our own system and just have a clone popup somewhere

really hehhe i mean i don't think it's illegal to have some place that sells and delivers in world..it's just like a relay anyways from inworld isn't it?

thing is .. it needs some tie in to SL.. ie when you cash out to SL ..and inworld deliveries.
i think that may have been the leverage LL used to buy out Onrez and Xstreet.. sell or that pipeline closes...
but this is just my opinion.

Wow. Looks like they will be deep sixing Onrez in favor of Xstreet. Gotta empty out my accounts there! All i can say is .... I would've never guessed this would happen.

Me either. That they bought *both* totally blows me away.
