Right click on teh desktop icon, select properties, edit the "target" to have a different --channel option. It can be anything you want, so long as it's not the default.

I guess they closed the notecard hole.

They might have closed one, but opend another big one for those still using v1.22!

As I posted on the blorum:

Well, you can watch out for pretty odd behaviour with editing notecards. I am on v1.22. I was editing this morning notecards in objects, where I use the notecards as config files for scripts (e.g. set the rezzing offsets in a rezzer). After an hour of realy odd behaviour I thought I have to look around and see if anybody else has issues or if there is a reason, which brought me to this blog entry.

The behaviour is realy a pain and potentialy pretty dangerous - I changed variable values, saved file, the file in the editor 'hopped back' and showed the old values - wonder wonder - closed the editor window, opened the file and surprise, the file had the new values. - and even that not realiable; in many cases, after the editor hopped back to the former state the notecard in the object wasnt updated either, when I reopened it. I had to go out of edit mode for the object (close build window) and then reopen the object and the notecard to see the changes I made.

This is realy realy dangerous!

It seems (and I am realy not technicaly savy enough to know the reason) that after saving the notecard, the notecard object on the server has the 'new' values, but the notecard in the editor doesnt, neither does the notecard object in the opened build window.

Guys, this will be a major source of a lot of people messing up their products.

That's what they fixed in the viewer update

Can you paste your target field from your shortcut here?

I think the exploit was to use a modified client to engineer a notecard that had the UUID of a protected object in it. The result was to break the permissions - perhaps on the logic basis of "Well if it's in a notecard it must have full permissions."
The object was never "put into" the notecard as one would normally do.

This is incomprehensible to average player.
Wow!
You people really understand this stuff????
It's so hard.
IUD???? What's taht doing in sl?

So, if I want my changes to a notecard to stick and I'm using a viewer that's not yet been patched -- I'm using Emerald -- does this mean I need to drag the notecard into my inventory, edit and save it there, and then delete the old one in the object's inventory and drag the new one over from my inventory?

I am not sure about Emerald; in the v1.22 viewer, if you saved the notecard - ignore the fact that it is 'jumping back' to the previous stage - just close the edit window, and the build window, reopen the build window, reopen the notecard, and you see that it 'sticks'. As far as I could see today it seems to be a 'display-only' issue, the editor pointing to the wrong state.
No guarante, though :( what a mess

Never has this happened to me! I installed the "required" SL viewer today and haven't seen SL since! My account can't log-on till such & such a time? ( SL time) Funny...this error was stating a time that was far in the past- not once, but several times! I dropped my premium account because of this crap, and now I think it's about time to say good-bye to SL! Why do they keep messing up something right when it starts to work? Sorry people, I just needed to vent!

Can I have your stuff?

I haven't done a LL update in over two years. Have they ever put out an update that didn't break more stuff than it was supposed to fix?
