Any person or group entering your land representing themselves as a Police Force or agency should be told by you to Immediately cease All policing actions, and remove all Tags banners uniforms and identifiers that represent themselves as such.

So if I come to you in Police uniform, .......
.... I'll have to.......like.....strip?

mmmmmmmmmm

And hand over my handcuffs as well ;)

Hmm, maybe some of the responsible ones do do some good, there was one guy dressed as a cop who used to hang out at one of the infohubs and seemed pretty good person. Perhaps by mischeivous newbies seeing some placebo authority they behave for a while, and hence avoid doing something really dumb straight away, untill they work out it's really a "free for all"...........

A while ago a police-officer came walking up to my land and started to question one of my guests. Dumb questions as why she was wearing bikini (heck, she was sitting at the pool that I had over then!).
I was online as well, but in my house doing some decoration while chatting with my guest through IM’s. When this police-men demanded that my guest should dress properly, it was simple… freeze, eject & ban. Bye bye…

The ones in the sandbox irritate me to no limit. One even tried to give me a ticket, and when I refused inventory offer, he tried to orbit me.

Sounds like a good place to use a "Blow my nose" animation. Then hand it back to him. :)

It's just a roleplay group. Nothing more sinster than that. Just harmless roleplay - mixed with a little private security work too. Groups like this sometimes are setup by estate owners as a private security firm. Other groups are literally just roleplay and nothing more.

Obviously, they have no powers whatsoever.

There are no Official Sanctioned SL Police. That clown was probably a Mom's Basement Dweller with delusions of granduer. He, or anyone in a "Policeman's Costume" has no right or business snooping around your Place. If he returns or any other of his ilk return, ask them to leave. If they, persist, eject them, and AR them. this is the type of nonsense that I see happening as a result of that stupid blogpost.

He's just roleplaying though. From the sounds of it this guy didn't do any harm at all.

Eject him if he does something that you would eject anyone else for; if you would eject other roleplayers such as goreans or vampires then do so to police too. However, if you tolerate other forms of roleplay, it seems a bit unfair to single out police roleplay.

As far as I'm aware, Brenda, roleplaying is not against the ToS, so doesn't really justifty an AR.

Roleplay is all fine and good, but if you roleplay in a physically or emotionally harrassing manner towards some one that has not consented to it, they can at their descression choose to AR the individual when it ceases to be amusing and if the harrassing party refuses to stop.

Eject yes, AR no. Being rude to someone is not against the ToS, as far as I can tell from looking.

Funny story, as a side note.

I got a gorgeous plot of land on the top of a mountain. Of course, my prim addiction led me to purchase more and more plots in the sim and I now currently own over half.
My plot is in a corner, so I have two neighbors, each in different sims (the others are out of sight, far, far below me). On the one side is (was, sadly, they moved out) a GORGEOUS treehouse. A Victorian Swiss Family Robinson masterpiece with a dragon in the front yard... it was really nice.
This inspired me to have a treehouse of my own, to keep with the theme, just a little looser, a little free-er... (freeer? freer? How the hell do you spell that word?), with platforms and rope bridges and the like, rather than rooms etc.
I found the treehouse of my dreams and plopped it in there, making sure to landscape the ground, far, far below me. Most of my land now, other than the spots I've loaned out to friends for homes, is just trees and a giant trunk going up to something special.

ANNNNYWay... The plot to the other side of me got chopped up into 512s and put up for sale. I considered buying one or two right next to me for the look of the thing, but decided against it.

So I get a visitor one day. I'm sitting off, working, as usual, and this guy, very politely, flies up with a "Knock knock? Can I come in?" IM, which I found charming.

He's new, but not a newbie, nice skin, decent clothes, interesting attachments. You know... he seems alright.

Then he starts talking about how he's part of a "Mountain residents zoning group" and they're "Trying to maintain the integrity of the design of the mountain."
I said that I wasn't sure what he was talking about, so he started skirting the issue and hemming and hawing...
I told him to spit it out. "DO you want me to change the look of my plot?"

"Well, we were thinking that if everything looked kinda the same, designwise, it would be better."

I burst out laughing (Now everyone at the coffee shop thinks I'm mental) and offered go to his plot and take a look at what he was talking about. What HE thought this mountain should look like. Oh, great! Another poorly designed, poorly textured, pseudo-gothic castle! Sweet!
I thank him and say that, sorry, it's really not my style, but that I appreciate the thought.
He comes back to my place and starts hinting about "pressure" that could be applied to me, how the other members of the group would be unhappy.

My mouth is agape at this point and I'm looking around the coffee shop going, "This guy is insane! I mean it! He's LITERALLY completely mad!"

I thank him again and excuse myself to go back to work.
He keeps... is it possible to whinily threaten? If so, he kept whinily threatening me, trying to bring in real life laws and regulations and condominium rules and stuff like that, saying it was for the betterment of the majority, not the one, yadda yadda.

I finally said, "Sweetie, here's the thing. You say the majority. I assume that you mean the majority of those living on the mountain, yes?" he said yes. "Ok... you have 512, and I assume that the others in your group have 512s, too, yes?" Another yes.
"Fly around this sim. Check out who owns the plots here. Then add your 512s together and see who the ACTUAL majority is. Add mine to the guy over there then tell me that you want the majority to make calls on the design of this mountain."

He started talking about how there were more of them and then, the inevitable, "We could make life uncomfortable for you."

At this point, I apologized to everyone in the coffee shop for my outburst of "Getthefukouttahere!"

I then purchased the 4 plots surrounding his and placed enormous plywood walls up 100 metres (it had been a good month saleswise, so I had a couple of extra bucks).

"You can make MY life uncomfortable? I can make yours miserable. Peep your castle."

The string of profanities and "YOU CAN'T DO THAT! I'M REPORTING YOU! THAT'S NOT FAIR!"

I took away the plywood and put the plots back up for sale (they sold in a few days, no loss of money, which was nice!) and said, "Will I be seeing you again?"

"No."

"That's 'No, ma'am.' Say it."

Way to go. I probably would have put up the ban lines for a day or two, but then I can be an ass when I am threatened.

My response:

"Was that cage supposed to sent me somewhere?" (I was on a nonphys that makes me look like I am walking)

Followed by reporting the attempted caging, swearing in a pg sim when he responded to that, and the group because it used 'Second Life Police' or soemthing like it.

He especially wasn't happy when I said the extent of the RP he was doing that I would do is send a notecard of his actions and conversation to his superior as an 'official complaint.'

You know the ironic thing is I was putting boxes over gambling devices set out to garner cash, and had just talked to someone about selling in sandboxes. They had immediately taken their makeshift store down. At least they made their own goods..

Mickey.. I don't say this much but that was priceless. One of my builds which I myself considered bordering on gaudy a neighbour of mine loved.

There is some scientific evidence to sugest old Ghenghis was even more a lover than a fighter. He probably has over 30 million living decendants.

As far as I'm aware, Brenda, roleplaying is not against the ToS, so doesn't really justifty an AR.

If a Roleplayer is playing that role in a "Private" area, ie, parcel of land, club or other building, and the owner operator of that area does not want it, and is asked to cease, and the person doesn't, then eject, ban AR if necessary is within their right. If in a Public area, and he wants to stand around and look nice, help people out in a general way, and interact in a non intrusive manner fine. But some of the instances described here are harrassment in my opinion, and are AR worthy. Especially in the sense that many people will see the uniform and think this is some sort of official action.

Heh, for some reason no-one ever seems to get Genghis' operating principle right: Make Love AND War!

Actually, this is just an excuse to post another Hurrah! in honor of Mickey's Tale. Truly, an inspiration to us all.

I'm not sure what you mean, sweetie.

I said "If only it WEREN'T true"

As in: I wish the story wasn't a true one... as in: I wish I didn't have to deal with bullies who try to force their "design style" (is poorly textured pseudo-goth castle a style?) on me.

Not that the story wasn't true.
