Is there a Bling Killer out there? I hate the damn bling effect. Most of my jewelry has the options, but several pieces I have don't seem to. I've tried to various chat commands BOff or BlingOff, on what seem to be the common channels, 1, 11, 55,99, but some just won't stop blinging. Penguin.

Since 'bling' is just a particle effect, why not just turn it off? Is it ctrl shift alt - or = or something like that?

Bling killer script
09-26-2007 06:04
Try this:
default { state_entry() { llParticleSystem([]); } } May have to hunt a bit to find the prim that's actually a-blingin'. After it kills the bling, it's best to remove it from the prim (or at least set it not Running) cuz every script adds to overhead, even when it's doing absolutely nothing. |

Hi Brenda...
I have one...IM me in-world when SL comes back up. I hate bling as well. >.< It's a script, so the item needs to be moddable to have it work. Anyway, look me up in-game anyway so I can drop it on you. Or, like Brocolli said, just turn your particle effects down. I have mine set to like 500 instead of the default 4096 or something like that. Take care, Elle |

Thanks everyone, I'll try all the suggestions, probably turning down the particle effects will be the winner , as it's the least labor in tensive
and some of the items aren't moddable.Penguins are attracted to the bright lights. Then they definitely aren't needed anymore........ ![]() _____________________

The hard part with particles is - like floating text an sit positions - they are prim properties, an dun jes go away when the bling script is removed. Mari _____________________

Great Question, Brenda
09-26-2007 06:57
I've wondered the same thing myself being an inveterate bling-detester. It's getting so I have to wear sunglasses at night to deflect all the bling out there.
Thanks for asking, Brenda...and thanks for all the suggestions!! |

oh, i love bling.... but only on ONE ring, one ONE person. i made my wedding ring bling. i like that.
now, i have a bracelet i can't stop the bling, which i do not like. it has instructions to block the bling, but it doesn't work. i hate bling on shoes and belts and those gangster necklaces. is that all really necessary? _____________________

There are also merchants out there that make very nice jewelry with no bling at all. The oldbies Caroline Apollo and Fallingwater Cellardoor come to mind and appear to be currently active (can't check in game right now).

It's just a few favorite pieces that have the issue. _____________________

I'm sorry, I dont like bling so I cant help laughing when I see those people that are all bling. Its hard to see the avatar on some, they have so much bling going on! I just cant figure out why they would do that, it looks like they are one big firecracker.

1) Buy a Mystitool or psiTEC.
2) Drag the offending blinging object onto your land. 3) Set it to physical. 4) Hit the disrupt button. ![]() Edit: Naw don't do that. ![]() _____________________

Lucas Lameth (Earthtones) and Elexor Matador (EMJ) do non-bling jewelry too. Well, Elexor still has some bling pieces the last time I looked, but I asked him to remove the script from one of his non-mod pieces a few months ago and he said he was moving away from the whole bling thing...most, if not all, of his newer pieces are bling free. _____________________

May I have Scrubber Script as well?
09-26-2007 08:12
I dropped a copy of the Scrubber script on ya, Misses Connolly. Mari If it's not too much trouble, could you drop one on me as well please? (Also have a piece of jewelry I like that is "supposed" to be "deblingable" and isn't.) Thank you sooo much in advance. ![]() |

Hey Brenda,
If the bling is on something YOU own (like shoes or a necklace) and the object is modifiable, edit it and go into the contents tab and delete the script. I've done that with several dresses that have 'jewels' in the flexi skirt... the jewels would bling and it drove me nuts, so I just deleted the stupid bling script. If it's not mod, you can contact the creator to find out what channel the bling is set to listen to. _____________________

The way i understood it, and certainly the way it's worked for me, is that the bling stays a part of the prim even if you delete the script. Arrggggh. Only solution that's worked for me is the scrubber script which is kindly being shared around. _____________________

In personal experience, removing the script is only effective some of the time...other times, it persists annoyingly AND the 'bling off' commands no longer work.
I'd take a scrubber script for those times when I insist on 'fixing' things, if it isn't too much trouble. _____________________

Be aware, even if your bling jewelry has commands that turn the bling off, the stuff is still listening all the time, and so causing you just that much more lag. If you don't want the bling, it's best to scrub it even if you can turn it off.
That said, I still wear the occasional Alienbear piece that 'sparkles' instead of blinging, with commands on channel 1, sigh. I find the shimmer effect cute. Shoot me. I do notice, however, that Alienbear is offering the occasional bling-free thing nowadays. Miriel Enfield also offers bling-free jewelry, for very reasonable prices. |

Sparkles I can tolerate, but when I put on a ring and little bracelet and airliners start following me around with their gear down, somethings gotta give

Can't you just IM the creator and ask for a non-bling version? If it's non-transfer I don't see it being a problem. Unless they are members of the National Bling Association, then don't bother.
