No Transfer

I don't make things copy/no transfer because I'm afraid I will lose a sale later. I make it that way so people can play with their clothes, and put an item in more than one folder, just the way I like to do. I make them copy/no transfer because that is what I have always preferred myself.

I have the script, I haven't started using it yet (by the way it is a 'vendor' script but it is not in a vendor, it is right in the box with the item, you click 'pay' then a menu comes up and asks if you want it C/NT or NC/T.) I never really thought about the fact that people like to click buy then look at the things in the box. I mostly think I will be using it for color choices though to be honest (saves on prims) but hmmm...

I guess it boils down to finding the right creator for you, there are plenty out there for each type of permissions.

Looking at what you're buying (even if it's just the items) is rather essential in my opinion.

If I see something I like and it all comes on one layer that's not nearly as good as if it comes on all different layers and in all different combinations (ie top and jacket plus top and jacket baked onto one layer). Also if I'm buying something like a catsuit it makes a rather big difference whether it's going to end halfway my leg because the creator couldn't bother to add the feet.

I've also been burned far too many times by going by the permissions on the ad only to find that the actual permisisons don't match, either deliberately (a resizing script attachment is *not* mod) or accidental.

Buying an unboxed item also significantly cuts down on any risk because it doesn't need to be rezzed, it's in your inventory already and unpacking is just unnecessary hassle.

If I can't peek inside the box, I personally won't buy it.

I do sell everything in folders (unless it is in a vendor at a satellite), I just hadn't considered that I wouldn't be able to do that if I use the 'choice' option script. The hmmmm is because I'm not sure if I will use it now or not.

I don't like vendors as much as some of you, here, but I have no choice but to sell my items in vendors, because of the sheer amount of clothing I have. Thousands of items just isn't feasible in one prim boxes. I also have a gift button on my vendors, that allows you to send the item as a gift to someone. Also, like Rha, all anyone has to do is IM me, and I'm more than happy to comply to the customers wishes.

Can someone explain the reason for NO TRANSFER? I like to purchase clothes for my favorite woman but cannot transfer. I understand the need for NO COPY, that seems fair but NO TRANSFER? why not?

There no loss of income on the sale. If I give things away it is the same as if the recipient purchased the item.

I agree 110%.

But let me not get started on my favorite group.

I make my jewelry Mod/no-copy/trans for the sole reason that people love giving jewelry as gifts.

Also I've started making some jewelry that can be engraved... people can buy the non-engraved version, decide that they do indeed want it engraved, and because it's transfer, they can give the non-engraved copy back to me.

I know a lot of jewelers make their jewelry no-mod, I guess so people can't figure out how it was made? Or they'll use "re-sizing" scripts in the jewelry. Well I can't be bothered with re-sizing scripts, most jewelry really SHOULD be mod, every AV is differently shaped, and a script seems like a clunky way of dealing with the issue.

i \hate\ "yes copy" .. "no trans" on clothing.
on nearly everything else... i like those permission. but clothes.. i want my clothes "no copy" and "yes trans"

i refuse to buy no trans clothes.

i really don't believe most users utilize the "make outift" function in SL... and that is the \only\ reason i can see that i'd want to be able to copy a system tshirt or pair of underpants... a zillion times in my own inventory.

I refuse to buy 'no copy' clothes even if they're cheap or REALLY cute =x I like being able to create my own outfits.

I do think copy/no trans is the way to go. I dislike items that are no copy. In fact, I've heard a lot of people ask creators for copy animations, specifically dances. Some animation stores are going for no copy/trans dances, which I don't really understand. Granted, might be better for them financially, but I hold my breath every time I rez my dance sphere in-world. When that bug occurred that ate content people attempted to rez in no rez zones, tons of items got lost. If they had been copy, it wouldn't have been a problem.

There's other options as well if you want to gift someone. There's OnRez, SLX, storecards (which I've seen a LOT of stores offer), and special vendors. The vendors that I use allow for gifting. As for the question if items should be mod, I'm not sure. With all the content theft going on, I understand creators making stuff no mod and using resize scripts for example. I've used those myself, but on a recent project which involved a lot of smaller prims they didn't prove as accurate and I decided to go mod. Customers need a way to fit items to their avatar.
