I just came up with a new slogan for SL (free to LL to use):

"It's Refreshingly Beta!"

C'mon, tell me all of this isn't intelectually stimulating, entertaining, and fun.

Latest blog post suggests they don't read the forums after all. Maybe all the Lindens are too busy on YouTube?

Would it be against the TOS to run a book on the results of this poll?

What are we measuring this against? My experience is better than what it was on Tuesday. My overall experience is worse than it was in June.

i voted worse, because since i've joined in February, it's been one problem after another. every 2nd wednesday is downtime for maintenance, when it is online it has weekly major issues that require rolling restarts which is a real pain when you are actively doing things, like building or participating in an event or even just exploring.

let's not even mention the upgrade of software every third week. it's such a hassle lately.

worse than anything, i think the fact that the lack of communication by LL to the customers during major issues is a pathetic form of customer service. i don't believe LL should be online 24/7 for answering our questions, but updates and information about what to expect (even if that means they don't know) is seriously lacking. for people who pay real hard-earned money in a game, there should be more regular information to ease our minds, or give us encouragement that they are paying attention. no, we are not babies who require hand-holding, but this is a business, and we are humans, and humans naturally worry and assume things when they are uninformed.

my small pittance on the matter.

YES! THE BASIC POINT!!! Our experience here compared to every other website we click on when we are not in SL. All the stupid negative stuff that seems totally unnecessary because none of us ever see it on the 99 quadrillionXN where N = >1,000 sites we all go to when we are not on SL.

THEN we will be happy. And Sl will prosper. And all the Lindens will be able to keep coming to work in a really cool place, and keep impressing girls in all those San Francisco fern bars about the cool way they make their living. Hey guys, go for it.

Why not? They accept many thousands of dollors each week from around the world. I think they have a duty to be available for all their customers, whenever they are needed.

i guess i live in a different reality where that is not expected. if there is more than one customer service port in a time delay, in different time zones even, then it won't be an issue. if not.... business hours are posted on the door.

and, they don't accept thousands from any one customer. and i guess... you get wut you pay for. *shrugs*

a daily update would be pleasant though.

Well as I work in computer support all I can say is "Sod that for a game of soldiers". Admittedly my place isn't open 24/7 like SL is but the guys deserve a break.

The other side of the coin of course is that if you expect that sort of service you have to pay for it. Are you prepared to pay increased tier and membership fees to support a 24/7 service?

I voted yes. I keep finding new ways to entertain myself in SL as I learn more about it and figure out new ways to mold and manipulate what's around me.

If this poll was to ask my satisfaction with the system in terms of stability and whatnot then I would have voted "un-changed" if it were an option. I understand how complicated and crazy it must be for someone to maintain such a system. I would gladly sacrifice fps and the occasional system fart to be able to create what I want and have literally hundreds of different kinds of games and experiences available to me in one game/platform/whatever.

Apparently 30k-40k+ people agree with me every day!

Me too. But more and more, it's less occasional and more perpetual. But you are right, it hasn't stopped anyone from logging in, including me.

O.k. your in a supermarket at 3am, your short-changed by the cashier. I expect you would like someone to be present who could sort this out for you.

I got the official one again yesterday. I voted worse. Grid instability hurts my business, which stresses me out. I asked a guy if he was going to renew his lease, and he politely told me that he didn't like Second Life. I can imagine quite a few reasons why.

Up until last Thursday...

When they put in the Voice upgrade, which imho, totally borked the entire system, and fried the asset server, shut down support, so there couldn't be a run on Lindens over the weekend, because they shut down gambling on Tuesday, which caused the casino owners to all dump their properties on the market, thus flooding the market and driving down the cost of land, etc., ad nauseum...

I would have said, getting better.

But, given the horrible run-on sentence that LL forced me to create above (yes, it *IS* their fault, I only put it all together in one place), I have to say it's just gotten a whole lot worse.

I hope that I'm wrong, but I think it's gonna get even worse than that, unless they...

( and you can quote me on that ;) )
