Ok, seems that resident answers is now (and for awhile) general discussions...
I have noticed a few folks mention that they are under the weather... so...
I am putting this thread out here, so we can share in the misery, and maybe offer each other some tips on what to do to feel better
(for me I tend to sleep a lot)
What do you do when sick, to alleviate the ickiness?

well when i had that H1N1 all i could do was sleep...all i really took was motrine when the fever got really risky high and slept ..infact i slept so much that after about 4 days i had to sleep in my chair cause it hurt too much to sleep in the bed..
i was so tired of being tired ..
it was migrain and hard to breathe at times..not chest congestion but felt more like my lungs were smaller..and lots of up and down fever.. but you never felt like you could ever get enough sleep..it lasted about 7 to 8 days..
still i'll take that flu over a tummy flu or sinus and flu any day of the week ..heheheheh

I sleep, as much as I can. And drink lots of fluids. Water...juices. And more sleep. Hope you feel better soon, Rha. And Ceka, I'm glad you're recovered from the H1N1 bug. I hear it hits like a ton of bricks.

Serious answer. If I am getting a cold (which will ruin whatever I am doing) I do the following: I take Advil, echinacea, cough syrup, cold pills, vitamin c, coffee, and a handful of vitamin pills. I use a hot water bottle and I drink gallons of liquids. I dont talk. In the old days I would drink whiskey laced with tea. It might not cure me but I would die happy.

Caught a cold.. told rest and fluids. I hope he meant sitting in front of a computer and drinking sodas.
Actually, I avoid the doctor for things like minor colds. I've been told entirely too many times that all they can do is give me a decongestant, bed rest and lots of fluids. So, that's exactly what I do. But, if I get a high fever, then I go. Actually, more like dragged. My hubby doesn't like a sick Raudf

Anything I get goes straight to my lungs. Cold, flu, whatever. When I was a kid my dad would mix up this concoction my grandparents used to use- Camphor, Lard, and Iodine. It was like the Farmer's version of Vicks-Vapo-Rub. Only worse!! He'd warm it up on the stove. You could smell it all thru the house. Then he'd smear this melted, liquified lard on your chest and then you'd have to wear a shirt the whole time to keep it from getting all over stuff. It was FOUL!!! But ya know? It worked!!! I think it works just by scaring the beejeezus out of any virus.

When I was really sick, my dad used to make me hot toddies...which he'd make in a mug - 1/2 of the it filled with whisky, then some honey, lemon and a little bit of hot water. I'd be asleep shortly thereafter... I don't remember ever finishing one.

Since it is mostly sinus/allergies, I take 7 benedryl, drink a hot toddy, put on my CPAP machine and have hallucinations for 8 hours.. then I can breath for a day or two..

Been sick for a little more then a week. Really major headaches, and being tired. Just thought it was the cold going around work. Finally went to the doctor and it was a bad sinus infection so drugs, liquids and supposed to rest still had the headaches and I didnt go to work on Friday, boss didnt take to that too well but to bad. Sunday woke up and felt odd and I realized I didnt have a headache well a tiny one in the back ground so think I am starting to turn for the better. Today less of a tiny headache. Doctor appointment tomorrow so probably more drugs.

From: Katheryne Helendale This! There is absolutely nothing I hate or fear more than puking! I will do anything and everything possible to avoid it! Ditto!! Oddly enough, even after polishing off a fifth of Vodka by myself (all 100lbs of me), I don't puke from excessive drinking. Black out? Yes! Puke? NO! Which can also be a bad thing.
