I really want some great pictures for my profile,and i'm a newbie,so i decided to edit profile.Some people suggest me that i find some good photographers.So,do anybody know where can i find him or her,and is that good idea anyway??

People will tell you not to pay for what you can do yourself, but everyone has different talents so if you want to pay for it, I say go for it. If you search under places for Photography, I'm sure you'll get plenty pf results. Plus there are many fine photographers in this forum, perhaps one will see this and help you out.

That being said, SL photography is not difficult to get started on, and while some skill and time are needed to take some of the wonderful pictures you see , taking a good profile pic is not difficult. If you are a "do it yourself" type, give it a go.

I recommend taking a screen shot, pasting it into a graphics program and uploading the image (edited and cropped) to SL.

You can play with the environment sliders first. Just make sure to detach on screen controls (or move them to the far edges of the screen) and move your cursor out of the way.

You can them crop the part of the picture you want to use.

You don't have to detach the huds and such. There is an option in the snapshot control panel to hid the UI when taking pictures.

Just use search in world and look up photographer. Most of them will have samples up on the walls if you visit thier galleries.. find one whose samples and prices you like.

I tried already,but there is no choice that much.Only way is find a good pose and place and then take some photos.

Oh, just remembered. There are also free photo studios - if you search for "free photo" on the Places tab. In the Hyles Infohub there is a place where you can make a profile picture for free, too.

I'll help you out....I love doing pics and I certainly don't mind doing some profile pics for someone for free. It's fun.....I enjoy the process....send me an IM in world (I do a lot of photo ad work and a lot of creative photo work, love the creative aspect and I always enjoy having new subjects for pics~!)

I see no one has given you the name of a photographer yet. I will. Digby Wilkinson is the photogragrapher who took my profile picture. Check it out and then contact him if you still need a photographer. He is really easy to work with and very reasonably priced.

For a profile picture, just make a full screen picture zoomed in on your face and about the top 1/3th of your torso. You can use the camera controls for better zooming, they can be enabled somewhere in the View section of the menu.
Any further away (so attempting to show more of your body), and you'll be less recognizable, but this is just enough to give people a general idea of your avatar and style alike.

A photographer could probably set you up with a pose and some photoshopping that would allow showing your whole body on a profile picture AND stay recognizable, but for a novice, I'd advice not to attempt this just yet. (someone with RL photography skill could probably give it a good shot though)
