how do you fix the problem in the RC viewer where when you log in your under the sea and cant move/tp or anything?

anyone got any ideas?

RC's are for that you know......not ment to be your regular SL client. Use the RC you sort of agree to help LL fix things.

If the regular viewer works the above suggestion is not a bad idea, just because it's so easy.

I would start by turning the computer, modem, router, etc. off. (Turn them back on in a few minutes. )

Clear the SL browser cache, which you can do from the login screen, and the regular SL cache, which you can also do from the login screen.

Select a different starting point from the ones you have been starting at.

Also, find your secondlife.log file and past the last ten or fifteen lines of it in here.

Yu need a better connection, it sounds like. As I've mentioned before, I've seen this only when I'm on the connection at the boring place. If you have a slow connection -- especially, say, if you are piggybacking on someone else's wi-fi still, you may end up not fully connecting to the grid and being stuck like that.

It sounds hokey, but check your connection on your end first in this case.

I use a Space Navigator the other viewer does not work with it, so have to use RC viewer, RC viewer is working fine for me in what I do in SL.

It's not an RC-only issue. I've encountered it on rare occasions and, if I'm patient and leave my avi alone, she usually pops up to wherever she was supposed to be after a few moments. If not, relogging always works for me.

The normal viewer works perfectly, the connection is a 2MBit connection and seems pretty solid (yes i am piggy backing).

And i did post a bug report but a Linden sais its something 2 do with my connection, wich is bullshit because the normal viewer works just fine, infact i have not had ANY problems with it what so ever (strange i know,lol)

There *is* something wrong with your connection. Piggybacking on a 2MBit connection is below requirements.

That said, I often will throttle back off the RC or even 1.20 when I find myself having a bad connection like that. I suspect it is simply throwing more data as you than that connection can handle. Sorry.

Nonetheless, it does occur from time to time on viewers other than the RC...just because you haven't seen it, doesn't make that fact untrue. And, hey, if the normal viewer works for you and your shady connection, why not stick with it for now instead of complaining?

They might not conspire against him so much if he would stop stealing someone else's connection.

You're right. I got all excited and took it out of order. Back to remedial social skills where today's curriculum involves "How to get what you want by not screaming cursewords at people" and "Why blaming everyone else for problems you caused is unlikely to resolve those problems". We'll get back to "Stealing is bad" tomorrow.

anyway i would get my own connection, infact i want nothing more than 2 have my own one, but i live in temporary state accomadation and i cant get that facility, its lucky i got this connection.

also i think the person knows i am using his connection, he "Messaged" me using a windows dialog box type message and said i can use his connection, just dont leave it downloading torrents

kinda odd i know, i wouldnt do that on someones connection anyway.

He MESSAGED YOU??? If he can reach you like that he can do OTHER EVIL THINGZ to you, you know??? And because you can piggy back on his connection that means the connection IS NOT SECURE.

a facility used by god knows how many people every day, with software you can't necessarily trust... you just don't do it. It's insanity

They don't cater for weak internet connections. They don't even recommend wireless full stop.

Go down to Carphone Warehouse and get one of those 3G mobile adapters and a subscription to one of the networks. It means paying for internet, of course, but it works.

Then either he or someone else on that network knows that you're on the connection, there's no doubt about it. Networks don't just randomly message people. 'I'm sorry, Dave. I can't let you do that.'

Most people wouldn't even say anything to you, just lock you out, so you're lucky there, but it is by no means even remotely as secure as you seem to think it is.

Good thinking! Making a law about having them secure will definitely keep the criminals away.
