I dont know if this is often asked, but with newbies coming onboard (after the sinking of the SL Liner FiveOthree) maybe this might stir up a few comments from ancient and crusty old avitars like Bradley and Uncle Bilbo, Mari and dear old Aunt Brenda. I LOVE tattoos in real. On my real body I have a stanza of an Edgar Allen Poe poem on my back. I have lovely phrases and designs in many private places. I also have MANY tattoos here. I buy dozens of them. What are YOUR favourites for your own sl self? have you imported tats from real? Do you change tattoos on a daily/weekly basis? Or maintain that a tattoo is permanentt in real so should be here. My mum did not forbid or disapprove of my tats in real so I am not tatting here to explore that aspect of myself - are you? Oh, and do YOU approve of tats? signed, curiously patterned.

I make my own tattoos in SL. ATM the only permanent one the three of swords on my left pec.
RL I have 2, a tazmanian devil (looney toons) on my upper right arm and a dragon covering about 30% of my back.

Tattoo-free here in SL, probably because I have enough in RL to satisfy myself.

Personally, I hate tatoos, would never wear one, in either life. But to each, his own.

I have an addiction to tattoos. I buy them like they are going out of fashion I have my favourites, but i like to change them occasionally. I don't have any in RL. Too much of a wimp, but i do want at least one.

I thought about making SL replicas of my RL tattoos, but decided against it. I designed them myself, and I quite like the fact that no one else has the same - if I were to create SL versions, the designs then become easy to copy. Besides, I don't even want my avatar to have my tattoos

I don't have any in RL, but plenty of tats in SL! I have holiday-related ones, dragon ones, Celtic designs, floral ones...and some custom-made ones.

In real life I don't have tattoos but I do have old faded branding marks and scarifications. In SL I usually don't like the tattoos I have seen but I have stumbled upon a few here and there but most were given to me from friends that I like and they don't sell their tattoos. If I had a means too I probably use my own skin designs but I don't know how for tattoos.

Actually I created one for someone close and i was surprised at how easy it is...

Creating them is easy. Creating good ones is not. I tried my hand at it several months ago and I wish I hadn't now. They were cheesy and stupid and absolutely not up to my standards, no matter how hard I tried. I'm embarrased when I lok at them.
I have one that I wear most of the time, but I rarely have my clothes off, so it usually doesn't show. I like it, though, so I keep it on. In RL, I am convinced I want one, and I know what I'm looking for mostly, but I'm stuck on finding an artist I like to do it. I need someone who can design it as well as tattoo it on to me. I've been trying to lose some weight as well, so I'd like to shave off a few more pounds and get my RL body where I want it before I pull the trigger. Oh if life only had slider bars... /me looks at his lo cal, lot fat lunch and wishes it had some sort of recognizable, pleasant flavor. I'd stab my own brother for a piece of pie and a steak right now.

I have a few I wear, 2 I uploaded myself and a set I bought. None in RL, though wearing them in SL has peaked my interest. I had actually decided to get a RL tattoo for my 50th birthday last year, but it would have to be just the right thing. As in SL, you cannot remove them with a push of a button... Well, I could never decide what the right thing was, so that got put off. If one of these days I find that elusive tattoo that would fit me, I may get one. No hurry.

In RL I have one that I designed on my right shoulder. It used a lot of colors, and it's about a decade old, so it has faded a little. I need to get it re-touched.
In SL, I have a tattoo I designed myself, and I believe that tatts should be permanent, so I added it to my AV's skin. No removing it without taking the skin off. I'm at work now, or I'd post a pic, but it's a solid black tribal dragon.

Good idea. The look of a tattoo will change with changing body shape, particularly on the limbs - which is something else to look for in a tattoo artist: some one who appreciates a tattoo shouldn't just be 'slapped on' with total disregard of lines of muscle tone, and curves of the body. For some types of tattoo design it's not so important, for others, it's all important. I have a friend who had a maori tribal type design put on his arm - it would only look as it was suppose to look if the central part of the tattoo closely followed the line of the tricep, as the designer had so clearly intended. Unfortunately for my friend, this appears to have gone completely over the tattoo artist's head. Though it still looks good, I've still not had the heart to tell him that it's not as great as it should have been! I hope all goes well with the weight loss Trout, I've been there before (twice!). If you are able to do some exercise first thing, running preferably, but even a 30 min brisk walk helps a lot, that will get your metabolism kicked in for the day. Bulk up on plenty of veg, fish and white meat. Avoid potatoes, white rice, white bread, and any other high GI carbs - not only will it help the weight come off, you'll be amazed how much more energy you have. Oh, and try to drink at least 2L of water per day. It's definitely a battle worth fighting; good luck!

In sl I don't wear any tattoos. Why? Because every guy and his uncle has one that's why. I rather be different and not have any. It's not necessary to look good.
All thru' sl that's all you see, guys covered in tattoos. In events or places you'll see shirtless bodies, skins covered in tats. They all look the same. It's definitely an advantage and a lot better to have your own look, your own style instead of looking like every other guy.
In rl tattoos don't look good on females. Maybe a small one in certain places but not those big ones you see. In sl, they look ok depending where they're placed.

Oh I don't know, I quite like tattoos on women. Just as long as it's not 'I <3 mum', 'honk if you're horny', or a piccy of popeye. Those could be a bit of a turn off.
