From: Bree Giffen But really how often does that happen? Of course it happens, but you have to think of it as advertising. I've had more than one customer come to me and say they "rented" one of my houses someplace and now that they owned their own land they wanted to own the same house. (By the way, I love your signature...makes me wish I still wore shoes

If a clothing item is a prim attachment, like a cloak, or has prim attachments as part of an outfit, I don't buy it if the attachments are not mod simply because more often than not I have to resize it to fit. I'm not out to change the look or style of the item, because I wouldn't have bought it to begin with if I didn't like it. But, if it doesn't fit, I won't wear it and look ridiculous in doing so. I'd just put it in the trash can and never purchase another article of clothing from that merchant if it wasn't mod. It's nice if they are copy also. Not because I want to have multiple copies, but because mistakes can happen. If the item is copy/mod. I can make a copy to do the resize. If I mess up I can trash can the copy and start over again with a fresh copy.

From: Bradley Bracken As for your question. It is my belief that most people don't pay much attention at all. You'll hear alot in these forums about people who wont buy things if they don't have mod or transfer or whatever. I think that's because, IMO, forum regulars are more saavy than the average SL shopper. I wouldn't say most people, but it always surprises me how many people on my friends list, or people I run into, do care about permissions (more often than not against NT, next would be against NM). I think a lot of people do care about permissions, they're just not vocal about it and simply avoid that store/those permissions in the future. I personally hate NM on prim items, there's absolutely no reason for it, and NT on clothes (and as a petpeeve I hate not being able to rename NM items).

Just my 2c of course, but I believe the solution to this entire debate lies in the lovely script Muriel uses in her vendors. It allows you to choose the permissions on the item you buy. (Also offers other options, such as colour, size etc.......) I think I'm in love with a script

Typically, clothing, unless it's a complete outfit, i.e. a period dress, or such, is copy, so people can create outfits, to mix/match this top with that skirt or pants, or those shoes, etc. Other varying products generally have the permissions they have for specific reasons. For example, I sell clocks, and, as such, I dont want to sell one clock, and have someone rez 10 clocks on their property having only paid for one, hence, they're no copy, but, at the same time, it's transferable, so if they ever wanted to sell it, they could.

From: Rhaorth Antonelli my clothes and skins are no copy no mod, transfer yes (I figure someone is buying clothes for the way they look, no need to mod them)
I wont actually buy outfits that aren't mod and copy as I always have to play with the prims as my AV is quite small. I find most prims skirts are way too big around the middle and have to alter them and copy is then required just in case I mess up. I do look for copy items most of the time, whatever it is as feel safer knowing it wont go 'poof' when rezzed. I don't know what is wrong with someone new bringing up topics that have been discussed before, the forum would be very quiet if nothing could be repeated.

From: Kitty Barnett I personally hate NM on prim items, there's absolutely no reason for it, and NT on clothes (and as a petpeeve I hate not being able to rename NM items). No *good* reason for it, but... well, some creators realize that a mod-able prim item can be copied (shapes only) with a relatively simple script--or by hand, for that matter. Fortunately(!), the existence of CopyBot makes that fact kind of moot. And I totally concur with the aggravation of not being able to rename no-mod stuff. (This can be a real killer for no-mod animations, by the way, and it's just silly since there's nothing much else one can mod about an animation.) At some point there must have been a bug long-since fixed that permitted no-mod clothing to get renamed when included in an outfit or something, because I'm stuck with a favorite shirt that shall forevermore be known as "New Shirt."
