I thought about that when I was making the map, however, the term "the mainland" is still used enough by people when refering to Sansara, that I think it might be equally confusing not to include it. I may change it to "The Old Mainland". Would that be clearer?

I think "The Old Continent" already covers that.

Since all the continents that actually show on the map are mainland, I still feel that labeling one of them as mainland will give new people the idea that the rest of the continents are not mainland.

This particular name was used when it WAS the only mainland, and was therefore correct. But as more continents were added, they were also referred to as "the mainland" because they are, in fact, mainland.

I guess my preference would be to label the entire map "The Mainland", unless you are planning on adding in some of the larger private estates. But that would a lot of work considering the way they disappear off the map when you zoom out, and the fact that they are occasionally moved by LL to give either the estate or the mainland room for expansion.

Carl, I think you should slap "Boomerangia" on Continent #4. Maybe it will stick! :D

Bodhi -- The proud Boomerangian!

I second this... I've been thinking for a long time that it looked like a boomerang. I think I would just call it "Boomerang", though residents would be Boomerangian as you said.

I will insist it be pronounced with the full Crocodile Hunter accent though! :D

So, two votes for Boomerang/Boomerangia. Any takers?

I like Boomerangia better than Boomerang because I can use a soft g like in George. Sounds a touch classier, continental even.

Interesting... is it still "-RANGE-ee-uh"? Or do you go with "-an-JEE-uh"?

For the sake of adding a fun range of pronunciations, I will accept the orginal proposal of Boomerangia. :)

I like the second, as in "RAN-gee-uh." The way you've written it here looks like the _a_ would be long but I prefer the short. Kind of evocative of Pangaea -- which I may be pronouncing wrong anyway

EDIT: For the posh it could be "-RAHN-gee uh."

I think it's okay to call 16m ad-farm owners "asshole scumbags".

I don't understand why Sansara and Hetrocera Atoll seem to have less of this than the newer continents? Does it have to do with the population demographics? More time for landowners to buy the land griefers out? Do the Lindens just pay more attention?

Ad farmers weren't as much of a problem very early (if I understand correctly) and by the time they became a phenomenon, most of the land in the older areas was priced too high to buy just to cut.

Ideal land for a cutter is something in a semi-popular sim that's priced well below market, preferably on a protected stretch. Better yet if new folks are buying into the sim constantly and are more likely to spend a few lindens to get rid of a few of them. Corsica's great for them, and they still find deals in Nautilus- but what I've noticed is that most ad plots seem to be bought and put up for their crazy prices and then left alone in my Nautilus sim. The long term goal is to make lindens from ad sales (although not all of the plots have ads) or to just outlast the end users into buying them out to add to their lots.

If the land is already at 20L/sqm and you're surrounded by people who've settled on their land size happily- you're unlikely to flip them at the crazy rates so all you have is ads- which are just as ineffective on a lot that only cost you 6L/sqm.

My first (RANGE-ee-uh) would be like 'hydrangea'. My second would rhyme with Pangaea... the stress being on the GEE syllable.

I still would like it called Satori.
