Anyone know when they are opening up applications to apply for land trade to the Adult continent? Or, where I can find the information with out hours of searching for the information?

Thanks!

It won't happen until a week or two after they release the 1.23 version of the SL Client, with the new search filters and Adult Content access controls. Once that has been released, they say they will open the new continent for people to look around for a week or two, and then will open the floodgates for move request suport tickets.

Are we to assume then that LL will take their M land in exchange for a new Adult parcel, and the M land will be auctioned? There could be an awful lot of land hitting the auction block as a result. Will be interesting to see how that affects the land market.

Yes. For any parcelst that L grants a land swap on, for the first people moving to the Atults Only continent, LL will end up with those Mainland parcels to be re-auctioned. Ditto for what gets abandoned by people LL refuses to allow free swaps for, but who feel they can't stay in business on M land with the new restrictions, and who are unwilling to pay extortion prices to land speculators once the feree moves are over and the Adult Continent gets scooped up at auction by rabid land speculators.

Well, they released 1.23. With most of the bugs still there.

This is incorrect. Anyone lucky enough to get a "swap" gets to keep both their old and new parcels.

It doesn't change the original premise of the question though. There will still be a lot of land coming onto the market and prices will be totally destroyed and probably will never recover.

You can keep both parcels if you want to pay the double tier so we will be dropping our sims worth of mainland holdings back to LL when we get a new sim on the adult continent as I refuse to pay double tier after the change over period of about 2 weeks :)

I guess I don't get it. Why drop it back to LL when you can just sell it? Whatever price it gets, even if it's some miserable rate like L$1/sqm it still more than 0.

Yeah you have a good point there, If we can move everything within the time scale and if LL do not screw it up or say to qualify for the free swap you have to give us the land back as we are exchanging it for you, I will do that :)

Yes, this is very disturbing. Two weeks to find a plot that someone will probably beat me to in a process that originally took me several months to find the exact plot that I wanted. Not only that, over time, I have consolidated the plots to cover the exact area of the sim that I wanted. This can not be duplicated in two weeks of wrangling with everyone else who is looking. Im screwed, and I am only on the mature land, not adult.

Because you may not be able to sell it during the "free tier" period, especially when there's hundreds of other people dumping land at the same time, because not even your bots will be able to keep up with the action.

(better change the oil, rotate the shield harmonics, and get their splines fully reticulated while you got the chance)

It would be an extremely unusual world if you couldn't sell your land at /any/ price. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it's impossible. You may not get what you think it's worth, actually, you definitely won't get what you think it's worth. You will always get more than 0.

No matter how rusty my bots get they'll always buy anything you sell for L$1, or L$2 or L$0.1/sqm or whatever.

Will you get more than the value of having that landmark giver on your land directing people to your new shop while it's in the auction queue?

Hmm, I guess you're somehow assuming that abandoned land will keep the landmark giver forever rather than just for the free tier period. Is that a fact? Seems a bit implausible to me. I guess I never investigated.

Anyway, if you have a full sim of land it will sell for L$2/sqm practically guaranteed. That's $500 or 2.5 months tier. That's a lot of money to throw away. Actually, I guess that works for any parcel. The sale price is going to be 2-2.5 times the monthly tier even in a worst case scenario. Is that worth less than a landmark giver? I guess you decide.

Now, I suppose you assume I'm arguing this from self interest and of course that's partly true but it's possible that for my personal benefit it would be better that the land was abandoned and not re-auctioned for months or years. I like buying cheap land but I don't enjoy crashing market prices and losing thousands of US$ on the land I currently hold.

Just a quick thought...

People will probably want to leave selling at bot prices until the last minute, so that their LM givers can reach as many customers as possible. I wonder if landbots will still be buying that late in the day.

Don't worry people! I'll never let you down.

I've been hoarding cash for this for a while. God I hope there's some sort of miracle and prices don't collapse too far.

Linden Labs says that it will remain there after you give up your land _for some period of time_. Not forever, but given the size of the auction queue I doubt it's going to go away in less than a couple of months.

It's an interesting incentive to abandon that I hadn't previously considered. If they care about stabilising the market they might want to consider other incentives so that most land is abandoned rather than sold. I don't think most people will consider some crappy landmark giver to be worth any significant amount of money.

I think there will be so much land on offer that the landbots will be targeting certain types of sims. Why swoop on granite mountain if beachfront is going to be dumped?

Interesting..
Landowners may try for a higher price up to x-time before the cutoff.
Then maybe they drop it to 1 or 2L /m for the last day, maybe
Then abandon to the Governor at the last minute if nobody bites. In which case bots that have held back will miss out on bargains.

Who blinks first?
