A huge chunk of my inventory is gone - just gone. I logged in - eventually, with difficulty - after a week away; no attempt to rezz anything, no transactions, yet thousands of L$-worth of stuff has simply disappeared. Equally distressing, the items I spent hours and hours learning to build have also vanished into thin air. I had taken copies of many items, but most of them are gone too.

My inventory is not even large by many people's standards - approaching 7,000 items (now just over 5,000). I've been through every single recovery procedure I can think of, to no avail, and as I'm no longer a premium customer, I have little faith that anything positive will eventuate from lodging a support ticket. Never have I felt so close to just walking away from SL :(

Clear cache, log out, log in and sit at the bottom of the ocean while you do random searches on your inventory to help it reload faster and see if that results in the missing items coming back.

Thanks LittleMe, but I've already tried that several times, although admittedly not at the bottom of the ocean - perhaps that's the key! I'll give it a try ;)

I've experienced inventory loss before, of course, although never on this scale, and I've never successfully recovered more than a couple of items. However, being an eternal optimist, I'll continue to believe that there's always a first time for everything!

Just by the way, my alt has a related issue. The shoes she is wearing have disappeared from inventory - only the empty folder remains. I'm afraid that when she takes them off, they'll disappear into the ether. Is she destined to wear the same shoes forever???

At least I'm not alone - they say a problem shared is a problem halved, only it doesn't quite feel that way when you're sharing your troubles with an alt :D

It has also been suggested before that if clearing cache does not take care of missing items, sometimes deleting the entire cache folder will fix the problem.

The bottom of the ocean is just that nothing is happening on a full water sim - nothing else for the server to download or rez, so nothing to interfere with the server loading up your inventory. The few times that I ever clear cache, sitting on the ocean floor is the only way I can get my 60k+ inventory to load in any semi-resonable time.

Evening guys - well I have yet to log in, but I did get a response from my logged ticket, and wanted to share it with you. Amongst my general complaint of the performance issue (that went on for a couple of paragraphs) and asking for better communications from LL, I also made a VERY brief mention that performance is worse in winter, and was there a reason for this.....I paste the Linden Labs ENTIRE (minus the analyst's name) response here for your information :

" Dear Jinniwitha.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Since none of our servers are located in the UK, it's highly unlikely that UK wintertime has anything to do with the performance drops you appear to be suffering from. It might be an issue with your ISP, though, and you might want to inquire with them about any potential network issues in your area.

You can always find the latest info of grid status at our status blog, which is updated at all times when we experience any performance problems. "

my network is fine. It is SL that is experiencing issues. At least I can find the latest info of grid status on the status blog which is updated at all times........alledgedly. siiiiigggghhhh.

Oh well - time to log in..... wish me luck.... *crosses my fingers for luck*

Ok - so I found a solution! lol

I just got naked on LL office property - then rezzed on a jacket - and then the pants again - it took ages - my lower half according to my friend was white - but then, suddenly I had clothes back! wooo!

Only downside is that to me, on my viewer - Im naked now on my top half .... I have applied boob tape just in case! Hahahahha

another fine mess!!!

Gettings so fed up with SL. Increases in costs, lousy service. Database problems, logins, all the same mess we always experience. Yet the costs go up!. Had two couches disappear un der by a** yesterday, poof just gone, nothing returned. 1,000 up in smoke.

Same old excuse, I'm not interested in their problems, not my concern! They seem to learn nothing in all the time they blunder around chasing their tails.

Friday problems? They've had years to sort this mess.

79,000 online captain! We don't have the power!

Or wait... We do have the power? Did Frank turn on LLnet? I can log out and in and out and in and fly around and see everything... What is going on? Anyone else still having problems? I don't seem to be having any, so far *crosses fingers*.

The grid may be experiencing unparalleled borkage, but I'm happy to say my party went very well, and so far we've made $179 for my friend :D

See? Threats do work. :D

I've yet to log in tonight - but here we go - the Final Resolution as they call it:
"Dear Jinnywitha.

Thank you for your feedback.

I have relayed your input to my managers, so they can take it into account when considering potential changes in our communication policies.

As for the other issues you mention in your reply, our logs indicate that you are using one of the third party Open Source viewers rather than the official software released by Linden Lab.
Please contact their support, or try to move back to our regular release viewer and let us know if you still see the same issues.

Regards,
Lotte "

I am indeed on the Nicholaz Viewer, as my computer does not work the Windlight viewer at all - I still find this hard to believe is the source of all the issues I was experiencing. Hmmmmm

Is anyone on the "Nicholaz Edition BE-v" viewer and experiencing problems ? Have you gone to a Windlight Viewer and found it better? I'm just hoping my SL time isn't up once and for all :(

I use Nics and its just fine.. It more likely LL just doesnt want to be bothered to "look" at the problem you are having and simply dont care.

Try if ya can to find a different linden some are just Lazy Linden lol

You might want to try the Cool Viewer 1.19 if the Nicholaz isn't doing it for you. It's Non Windlight and I find it works even better. It has a lot of his improvements and then some.

Huh ? Wha ???? OH WHAT JOY !!!!! :D

Whatever literally just happened in SL - things just went back to normal for me!

I can walk - it got so bad a couple hours ago, I couldn't walk more than one frame every 3 seconds. Chat lag in main and IM chats were awful. I haven't logged out - I am watching TV in RL - while IM-ing, so just left it running.

I did not follow the advice of the Lindens (who blamed my ISP, network, and/or my viewer) and go to LL's Windlight viewer, which my PC really does not like at all - I simply stuck with it, and clung to hope like it was the only life raft in a very desolate ocean, that it would all sort itself out. After 5 days of frustration, chat lag, and giving up on any activities that required much moving, it suddenly went back to normal! WOOOOO-HOOOOOOOO !!!!!!!!

Thank you Linden Labs - for proving yet again, that perseverance is the only key to SL! Lol!

Hope I haven't just jinxed myself now! ;) hehehe
