There must have been a muckup in the asset server because now one of the scripts that are part of the widely used and freely available MLP system is missing. Specifically, whenever I try to use any of my MLP based items, or a fresh copy from Miffy Fluffy's pick, I get the error "MLP 1.2: Could not find script '~pos'. Similarly, when I attempt to view that script (by double clicking it in the object's contents) it says the database is unable to locate it.
As this breaks a huge amount of content within SL I'm wondering if this can be fixed in the database. Anyone else having this problem?

hm interesting. This definitely isn't just me, as the problem was reported to me by multiple customers, plus it's not only in my items that I'm seeing the problem but also when I get a fresh copy of MLP from Miffy Fluffy's pick. Oh well, I guess I need to look into this more to see what's going on.
ADDITION: Oh wait was that bed already started up before? This missing script is only a problem for MLP when it first starts up, as the ~pos script is only used when the poses are first loaded.
I would ask you to try restarting your bed to see if it still works, but I don't want to ask you to break something that is working. I am putting a new copy of the ~pos script in an announcement box in my store, but I don't know if you have mod permissions on your bed to fix it.

There was that DMCA issue where a lot of uninvolved scripts were taken down.

Yeah I remember that from a while ago. Ironically, I was (mostly unknowingly) involved in that takedown, as my animations were among the pirated content. This is a new issue, affecting MLP scripts that never went through Eva's hands.

I've just rezzed one from my inv and restarted it. All is well.
(The creator of the ~pos script is Miffy Fluffy, and it's the 1.2 version like yours)

Just did the same as Phil, with the same result. Things seem fine in the MLP set I am using.

Reports are that the same item will have different results in different sims.
In my sim, if I rez my original copy of MLP from Miffy, ~pos shows up as missing from database.
Fortunately I had another copy of the source which was fine. I compiled it for LSL and posted it as a notice for the MLPV2 group, so if you want a copy, you can find it there (at least, until the notice times out in a couple weeks).
I doubt this is related to the EvaCapalini incident, because the good copy happened to have been created by Eva, whereas the bad copy was direct from Miffy.

This problem first started about a week ago. I have done some testing and it is definately related to what sim you are in, probably due to which asset server it is working with.
If you are having this problem IM me inworld and I will send you a working set of the scripts.

Ah ok thanks for the clarification guys. I suppose people could pop over to my island to see if they are having a problem using the items there, but if you both reached the same conclusion from your tests, I think it's pretty safe to conclude that the issue is the sim you are in.
Well hopefully LL can fix the issue with the one borked asset server then, but regardless anyone who needs it can get a fresh working copy of the ~pos script from my store; I put out signs that warn about the problem and hand out free copies.

Bump - more visibility for what may turn out to be a widespread problem. Missing script for me too, not only in items I have rezzed but also in items in my inventory. Fortunately I'd had reason to edit the original script a while back; my edited version remains, and it was a simple matter to edit it back to original form and use it to replace my borked copies. I was also the recipient of a group notice from a fairly popular maker of adult animation sets and scripted furniture, offering up a replacement script since many of her devices are breaking as people reset them or as sims are restarted. I don't really have a detailed understanding of how assets work with source code vs. precompiled code that exists in simulator memory - but I have a scary feeling that as people reset MLP devices on sims which have been recently restarted, they are going to fail as neither the source nor the bytecode will be found. My mind boggles just trying to imagine how many copies of MLP 1.2 exist in SL, and (really, I'm trying hard not to say that the sky is falling here) I'm scared many or all of them may fail over time. So, get ready scripted furniture makers - this could be a bloodbath. But hey, it's a nice sunny day here

Yosef also mentioned getting a group notice and a replacement copy of the ~pos script (post #10): " /327/20/282158/1.html" Sounds to me like something did get botched somewhere. (and darn it - I am now having trouble getting the link to post as a proper link -- I have not changed my Greasemonkey or anything, so wtf is wrong here.)

Thanks to an early alert from a customer who was having the issue and the script Lear posted in his group earlier last week, I went ahead and updated all my products (and what a mission that was).
I tested various of my products in quite a number of sims and got the missing script error each and every time.
They need to feed SL a little more, I'm getting rather tired of the grocery bill.

Find the unborked script in MLPV2 group notices. Get it before the notice times out in about a week.
Also, see John Durant's store, the Motion Merchant. (Got LM, John?)

other animation/scripting groups are sending out replacement ~pos scripts and sometimes this is the first we hear that there is/was a problem.
This is a new issue totally unrelated to the Eva C problem. Word seems to be the mlp script has this problem if unmodified however whether this means only where miffy is shown as creator or if the script hasnt been messed with i can't find out...
If it happens when items are moved/reset etc makers will have to sit back and wait for customers to shout as many have massive stock all using the mlp script..

thanks MLV2P works just fine in a few sculpties I've used, and I've seen old MLP work fine in sculpty prims. Please expain what you mean by "won't stick". After you do a "Save" of the position and select the pose again, does it go back to the original? Try selecting the prim (right-click -> Edit) and use "Tools -> Reset scripts in selection". Touch it to start it up, and try a few poses. Then adjust one and see if it saves. (Or are you starting fresh, with no poses already positioned?)

I dropped an abbreviated mlp v1.2 script into a one prim sculptie chair..just a few cuddles and kisses, lined up the positions on the furniture, saved each one then did a memory dump and copied all the coordinates into the positions notecard and saved. Stopped and shutdown the script then restarted it via menu and the menu etc loaded up and all my carefully angled poses were all over the place again. I shall try again tonight using each of the 'adjust pose' save co-ordinates rather than a dump and see if its different. i just wondered if the nature of the sculptie beast that starts life as an oval blob just means that menu positioning was a non starter as maybe it rezzes angled differently each time and that matters??

update...nope failed...copied each new saved position into the positions card, reset several different ways and the new positions simply wont read from the positions notecard despite it loading....and this without taking back into inventory..took back to inv...replaced it...now discovered the ~pos script was there but empty (the known glitch)...replaced it , reset....but....
hmm now its getting worse the balls are vanishing..it is just me???

Try to open ~pos script in inventory. If you get "missing from inventory", that's the problem. But, this isn't quite the symptom I'd expect from that.
Sorry I wasn't able to post earlier, but the "save" chat and "dump" output should match.
Try dropping all the same scripts and notecards into a plain box (with same orientation as sculpty -- use "local" edit axis mode to see how they're orientied). Do the poses act the way they should?
Another thing you could try is to get MLPV2 from SLX and drop those scripts in (leave your notecards as they are). MLPV2 notecards have some features you'd miss, but your original notecards are compatible with MLPV2 so just use them and consider merging your poses later.
Or IM me ingame; maybe there's something fishy about your particular scuplty. I can't imagine how that would matter, though.

hmm now its getting worse the balls are vanishing..it is just me??? Balls vanishing might be a case of your sim being unhealthy, with long chat lag -- any evidence of that? You might try in a different location.

I have seen behavior like that, positions not reading correctly, especially after a script has been replace. Try editing and then tools and reset scripts in selection, then start up as normal and see if that helps, it has worked for me.
