Well, when I first found SL, my first experience here didn't even make it to the website, let alone logging in and abandoning a used-once avatar. I read about SL over 5 years ago, in the print newspaper. (Yes, some of us old fossils still read those antiques). At the time, it sounded intriguing, but the idea of "buying virtual land" sounded like a scam, and the system requirements for your computer were WAY higher than anything I owned at the time.
Two years later, I came back to SL because a friend had come here, and I wanted to spend more time with their avatar. My new computer that I had purchased a few months before was barely able to run SL at 5 to 10 FPS. I skipped straight from Orientation and Help Islands to the Private Sim where my friend lived, thus avoiding the griefers at the infohubs. I haven't left since then. (Though I was probably right the first time about Virtual Land Ownership being a scam.)

well joined around nov/dec. out of curiosity. and found it not so friendly. the real life took over and it got shelved for a bit. now that school is out for me, decided to take a peek in again. still not very friendly, but i find i have some time to explore the builds i heard so much about.

Wasn't my choice to leave SL in the first place. I came back 4 days after returning home. The last pics I have from my old avatar are from March 23rd 2006. SL has come along way since the times of "Hoochie Hair."
