I have had a few Hi Wopat i just tell them the name is Windswept. The only ones ill address by their last name are those with first names i choose not to use like Master, Sir , King or offensive ones. I will either not address them first or ill use their last name

I usually hear it right after a 16 ton weight falls on someone.

i get called Cake a lot..for some reason my name has this way of people seeing cake instead of Ceka when they first say hi to me.

Some also say.hi C or CC Cek

really i don't understand why they would even feel the need to shorten Ceka but some do..

Happens to me occasionally, Merlin being a first name.

Most often people call me Incanus, at which I invite them to call me Inc, as it saves them typing rude words :P

Inc

"Hey, McCloud! Get off-a my ewe!"

Sorry, had to be done. :p

I've had a couple of people call me Helendale, or Helen. I just smile and say, "It's Kat." Being called by my last name is creepy. It reminds me too much of my days in the military.

nobody calls me by my surname, but I make it a point in world I only want to be called moe and not bigmoe. the moe whitfield name was taken when I first signed up in march of 07. so had to use the big.... so if you ever run into me, just call me moe. :)

Never called Gynoid

Edit #2: Easier to read may be as much of a factor as eaiser to write. I know a lot of people are just lazy typists. (My name only has 5 letters, and still gets shorted to "Am.";) But, particularly when things are busy, there is so much text flying around that it's nearly impossible to carefully read it all. So many people are skimming text rather than reading it. So they are likely to pick up on the words that are easier to understand.

I'm finding it very hard right now to see eveyrthing right now. I had to look hard at your name when you mentioned five letters. Letters blurring together, they are. My eyes are very bad right now. Not everyone is lazy.

At least you didn't attach a bunch of numbers to your account. I see people with numbers in their first name, and I find myself thinking to myself, "What are you? A person, or an AOL address?"

I'm waiting for it. There will be that time when someone will name her RL newborn daughter "kissygirl234782". It's just a matter of time.

Never in SL. I usually get called Weston, Wes, and once Wee-one (!?:)).

I don't even think about the Graves half. I think my brain has even stopped seeing it. But I am grateful for its short length if I have to re-key it into the log in screen both here and in the viewer.

I've never been called by my surname. I've been called by my group title once in a while. They say, "Hey member!" and I'd just totally ignore them cause I don't have my group tag showing to myself.

Yes and it irritates me no end. I also get a lot of "Miss Graves".

Just Gabriele will do dammit!

I wish I was called something like Deoxyribonucleic Antidisestablishmentarianism , because then I could say to my friends that they could call me Deoxyribonuke for short!

Antidisestablishmentarianism

"Anti......distinctly........minty......."

I've been "Miss Vella-ed" by a few of the more formal Victorians. But I like being Tiff mostly to friends. My rl name just can't be shortened in such a nice way, so I really enjoy it when it happens in sl.

I have been called Daniel or Daniels by incompetents, newbies and ESLers. I ignore them. :p

If I am called a mistyped version of Pserendipity by someone I take great delight in finding a way to mangle their name. ;) Club greeters tend to get a hard time, especially since the fake familiarity is blatantly obvious.

Either way, I know that they haven't bothered to read my profile, as the first thing in it is a suggestion to call me Pep.

Pep (It saves wear and tear on the digital sex organs. :D )

PS On the other hand those that can type Pserendipity accurately - and know what serendipity means - get bonus points.
