Well to get straight to the point... I have been watching my store the past few days and I'm going to say that about 75% of the people that stop by are camping bots. They're all the same, empty profiles, they belong to the same 3 groups and they're ugly as sin. They just land and then stand right in the doorway in the way of real customers and do whatever it is they do before they move on.

I can't ban them, there's just too many. It's been going on all week and I have yet to see the same one twice.

I just moved to this location and they've been showing up since day one, since way before I even got the store set up and advertised...

My question is... is there anything I can do to make them stop coming around? They're driving me up the wall. I don't want to restrict the land from no payment people just in case there are a few legit shoppers out there. Any ideas?

I'm guessing it's pretty much hopeless and I should suck it up and learn to enjoy them for the traffic they're contributing right?

The only thing you can do is ban them. Right clik on them and select ban in the piemenu.

Can you move the tp location so they aren't blocking the door? Also, do you have camping in your store? It sounds from your post like you probably don't. Any idea about the previous owners? Maybe they had a lot of camp chairs and these bots are looking for a place to sit.

Unfortunately, bots are a part of life...or Second Life, whether its camp bots, land bots, or those exotic maragarita bots. Mui Thai Kickboxing Bots are my fave. Seriously, LL doesn't seem to care to do anything about them, and until LL does, we have to deal with them.

Are they doing anything other than just showing up? Are they in the way? If not, I'd just enjoy the guilt free increase in traffic counts.

Yeah. Build a plywood box for them to land in so they feel at home. Too bad "freeze" doesn't last long enough to help with that traffic count.

Can't you keep just "freezing" them after they unfreeze?

you can,, but with the freeze time of 30 seconds, that becomes a pain

Too bad you can't temporarily move the landing point.. to say, the far corner of the store. Or get one of the fake camping chairs and offer shots at camping bots for say L$ 1 per three shots? A zombie camper shooting gallery.. that actually sounds kind of fun!

Moving the doorway sounds like the best idea of all, so far...and if they are reaqlly that ugly, a box concealing them - it could be a vendor too, you know.

Hi Tracy, have you tried contacting the groups owners? You say they are from 3 different groups. (as if that would do any good probably a bot too)

I'm confused.

How is it you are being invaded by camper zombies unless you have camping chairs?

I was wondering that too. Maybe it was an old location to a busy camping spot?

Yes well I did make a Jira to extend the freeze option so it's useable. But people suggested it might become a griefing tool, like eject and ban...............

Hmm I have a camper shooting gallery actually, and so does another poster here, just don't seem to be earning enough money off shooters to pay for the campers :)

If you set your land to damage enabled, then when someone shoots them they tp home. If they don't spend enough time in the camping chairs, they don't get paid. Sooooooo.....

We need a camping shooting gallery with scripted weapons that just kill all the campers every 15 minutes. Put up signs that read that this will happen, so legit campers don't get caught (why pick on the poor newbs?) but camp bots will show up, sit down, waste 15 minutes and BLAM blown to smithereens and sent home empty handed.

I bet Qie could come up with a script for this without even breaking a sweat.

Edit - even better - put bots on your land trained to wander around killing campers. Bot killing bots! Ninja death squad bots! I love this idea.

I have an electric chair I've made a while back. This thread has given me the idea to rescript it slightly, so that it will advertise itself as an electric camping chair.

It will pay out 1 lethal dose of electricity per 10 minutes. After someone has sat in it for ten minutes, it will spark and crackle and rez some 100% damage sparks around the head restraint and the left ankle.

Man, I would love for "freeze" to last 90 seconds - enough time to get to the "teleport home one user" function on the estate tools menu. I had a griefer at the wedding the other night and it was a mad dash to get to the right windows and boot her ass before freeze wore off and she could disrupt the wedding any further.

if you have camping chairs in the area, that is what they are seeking. move the chairs.

I suggested 5 minutes, if you freeze a serious griefer then you can cheeze them off while you have time to get LL on their case, eject/ban just sends them off to annoy 10 other people I mean is 5 minute freeze griefing compared to a permanent ban?
And if you can then negotiate with them their reasoning for their actions, even better, you can always unfreeze them earlier.

They may be after that camping easel you have in there, the bots seem to be pretty good at picking up the common commercially available campers. If you have modify privileges, you might experiment with altering its name and and other details to see if it makes them lose interest.

I wish I had that many bots turning up to my shooting range :)

Well I built my electric camping chair. I'm not sure if it will actually attract bots though. In lieu of paying L$, it waits ten minutes then kills them with some electrical effects (on damage enabled land of course). I've left it in my workshop for now to see what happens.
