Like many others, I recommend finding a really quiet sandbox, and heading up high if this is allowed. I have a platform that rezzes at 1000m, and rarely am harrassed there. No typical new person will stumble over you. If you still are harrassed, not responding, turning your self phantom, and muting them will make them lose interest.

Oh and if you *have* to work on the ground, stand yourself and your work on a prim, about a foot high, and a few metres wide. This stops all those stupid freebie vehicles skiddling you.

And enjoy yourself...stuffing about in sandboxes is still fun. :)

Furnation's sandbox is added to the list. Thanks for the suggestion.
Also, Malamutopia/Pawprintzians, now that I think of it.

How do I find sandboxes run by furries, and will they let humans use them?
Funation, Malamutopia/Pawprintzians, Lost Creatures. You have to join a group for the latter two. I think Malamutopia uses an inviter, and Lost Creatures costs L$10 to join. Furnation, you might run into some people who are a bit prickly about humans... put on a fox or cat tail and you should be OK.

How about a fur coat, or a Davy Crocket hat? :)

What is NCI?

What is AR?

Tell me, if one loses something at high altitudes, does it get returned in the same way as objects left on the ground?

1. NCI = New Citizens, Inc. They're organized to help new people. They have classes, freebies, helpful people, etc. and a website:

http://www.nci-sl.org/blog/

2. AR = Abuse Report. If you see someone violating the terms of service or community standards, you can report them. You click on Help > Report Abuse in your viewer. Here is a page about it:

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/AR

You can AR people for harrassment, assault, intolerance... see the Community Standards at

http://secondlife.com/corporate/cs.php

3. When you lose prims, they end up in your Lost and Found folder when the sandbox is cleared.

Most furry sandboxes that I've been to don't care what AV you have, as long as its not offensive, and you are not there to cause trouble. We are however a curious lot, so don't be surprised to see someone walk by and take a look at what your making. You may even get a few tips, as some of the best builders in the game are furries.

Note: Furries tend to be a bit more open on the issue of clothing, or lack there of. While outright sex(yiff) may be banned, just walking around naked may not. You have been warned! :D

Also, should you see a crazed white tiger driving around your sand box, RUN!

I second the endorsement for the Skidz Prims sandbox at Skidz Isle. I've never been griefed there, and they have private platforms ready for you. I don't use the platforms often because it feels a little lonely up there and there are mostly serious builders on the ground who won't bother you.

Before trying Skidz Isle, why not have a little fun in parting with the griefers? Work on an unimportant chair or sofa, something simple and low prim should do. Play around with the colors or textures until some clever clown sits on it to annoy you. Then quickly set the Z coordinates to 5000 . . .

You pretty much have to go to a managed sandbox nowadays to get away from the idiocy at the public ones.

We've got a medium-sized sandbox at the Isle of Wyrms, but it requires group membership, which is free. If you don't mind being associated with Dragons, that is. }:=)

Kay, those are griefers. People who for reasons of their own choose to try to upset, belittle, take off balance, or disrupt other people. For some reason, people who create seem to especially bring this anti social behavior out in those types.

It reminds me of jealous birds throwing themselves against a glass wall because they cannot get into the building. They likely feel very isolated and rejected in real life, so they vent that bitterness by seeking negative attention.

Or they're just jerks...

Sounds like you had a fairly heavy dose of it, though. There are quieter sandboxes. Try a non scripted one, since most griefers use scripts.

This is true. One of the sad trade-offs I made when I got my workshop was that I missed the interactions between builders. I used to get some great tips and give tips whenever we struggled with a project.

Talarus is right. Isle of Wyrms does have a really great community oriented sandbox, when it's not in use for holiday building competitions ;) I went there when I was a younger account, because it was as griefer and spammer free as the Guardian Wyrms could make it. And the elder wyrms were always good about giving tips to the youngsters.

You might see me there once in a great while, when I'm tweaking my dragon form. Only thing I recommend if you visit there is to bring a huge supply of cookies. The hatchies will pester the snot outta you until you feed them some. And it's deuced annoying to have to drag cookie begging hatchies outta a build. :p

And set the sofa at a 45-degree angle, pointing towards 0,0 of the sim. When you get it up to 5000, quickly set X and Y to 0, so it's right on the corner, pointing into that corner. Then, when they jump off, they're pretty much forced into another sim.

Not tried it myself (I build in OSGrid), but I dont' see why it wouldn't work ...

Or, back in the day, take the item back into inventory and watch the idiot fly. THAT was a greifer who was in Sandbox Island, shooting everyone, shoving where he could and calling people all kinds of horrible names. Especially the bunny-guy. That poor sot was simply working on what looked like a riding bunny or something like and the guy starts calling him well... Griefer decided he'd sit on my throne while I was working on it. I politely ask him to move as I want to attach a cushion to the seat. Got laughed at. Last laugh was MINE, because I think to myself, "What would happen if I took the cushion back into my inventory?" He was thrown a good distance and the typed, "WTF?!!!!" was priceless. Cost him griefer points, since everyone started laughing at him.

That's cool. But seriously, would that really work? I know I can shift my own avatar by altering the Z coordinates, but can I really do it to other people?

It was a non-scripted sandbox. At least, I think it was. My Workspace Buster wouldn't work there.

When a prim/object is moved, any avatar that it attached to it (sat on it) is moved with it. So yes, it works.

Hmmm... maybe I'll rework the Evil Pumpkin into an innocent chair...

However, it does give the sitter plenty of time to jump off.

I do recall seeing an avatar eating recliner on X-Street a while back that chewed up the sitter in a bloody display of body parts

Quoting myself here...

From: Kelli May
...The worst problem I've had is the moron who drops their build on top of yours; I've yet to find an answer other than moving, and if they're determined to bug you, they'll just do it again.

This happened again today, but since I wrote the above I realised there's an answer... in Emerald, you can DERENDER any object that's in your way.

This time, and probably most times, it was done by mistake. Someone rezzed a house too near to where I was working, completely embedding me and my build within it. I derendered it and barely missed a beat.

A minute or so later I heard:

Someone: I think you dropped it on somebody!
Someone else: Naughty demon!
Someone: You dropped it on Kelli looool
Me: Yes you did :)

I waited for an apology while I carried on working, but they went back to their giggling and looooling. I suspect that a lot of griefing is this kind of inconsiderate crap. I could have gone all drama on them but I doubt it would have got me anywhere. But the simple combination of being seated, ignoring the distraction and derendering their crap meant I finished what I was up to without a scene (although yeah, I came here to bitch about it).

That reminds me - at one sandbox, someone had built a house at ground-level but over the teleport pad. Consequently, for the next four or five hours, I had to find my way out of the house whenever I used that sandbox.

I suspect though that is is very easy to get turned around and not realise where the teleport is, given that it didn't appear to be marked.
