SL has advanced a pretty long way and there are a lot of cool animal pets that exist now.

What pets do you animal lovers recommend? I use a Fairy and and an Imp that fly around me sometime but they are not really pets per se. What about you?

wasn't there, within the past 24 hours, a thread about animal lovers that got locked?

I love RL animals - especially my RL cats. But for me SL is a pet-free zone, with no ripped curtains, no messes on the floor and no hair to vacuum up!

I have a yellow Lab from Zooby's. I hardly ever take her out of my inventory.

The Zooby's critters are nice, and well made. My problem with them is that they are more puppets than pets. You have to issue commands to them, which they then follow.

I like animals with more independence. That's what I found fascinating about the VKC dogs...they "learn" from you. They need interaction. When I played with them, it felt more as if I was in the presence of another creature.

I have a little seal pup that is a bit like that. If you feed and pet her, her attraction to you grows, until she starts following you around. It's a limited set of interactions, but it's cute and fun.

I have to put my seal out again. It got returned by the estate manager because the sim was lagged... but when I checked it looked to me like the lag was people teleporting in to the Midnight Mania and Lucky Chairs in the opposite corner of the sim. It's non-physical so it doesn't really have much overhead.

You can pick Farralon's scripted seal Shelly in the Coonspiracy Business District in the southwest corner of Noonkkot. Shelly follows avatars around your lot, and you can hug and pet and feed her, and if you make her really happy she emits a burst of hearts.

I have a Zooby cat named Airie. He's mostly in my inventory now. Once I found out about how the Zooby pets cause lag (one sim I owned land on, those were specifically banned in the covenant) I rarely take him out which is sad, I Really loved him but not to the point of causing stress to the sim. When I bought him I didn't know or understand about reading top scripts etc. So now, I have a horse, that I can 'Wear' and he doesn't do anything to the top scripts that I can tell. He's only out occasionally too. I do miss the cat. He's very cute but like you said, you do have to issue commands, like 'click the food dish, and he will go to the food dish. Click the toy/ball and he will go to the toy. Click his bed and he will go to the bed. He can fly with you and I think the newer versions can TP with you? Not sure about the TP part. Used to be, if you TP'd, and they were not on their 'home' parcel, they'd wait there for your return. If you didn't return, they'd go offworld. lol.

Aren't Matadors like bullfighters? Do you mean Minotaurs?

I have a little Kittenz black cat and also some fairly realistic chickens from Sculpty Creations Animals. The chickens are more like decorations than pets, they just peck the ground, but they look good.

I have a corgi and it's real cute :)

I was going to get a kitten too but then started hearing about possible upcoming parcel script limitations and decided to save the lindens.

Zooby, for ground pets.

Shoulder pets if I get one free I will wear it a while.

I got some fish and ducks at Animania I think it was, for the pond in the park.

I went to this store that I think was called Cartoonimals (they were giving out free bunny slippers) and it had some really funny animals there. Very cartoonish and simple animate prims. Not heavily scripted. I almost bought something but I wasnt using my homeowner alt.

Another vote for VKC dogs. In addition to being able to condition the pets, there is a very large community around VKC. I have a VKC Chow.

I also have an AKK Kaiila and a horse. I recently was gifted an amazing rideable Bird of Prey that is awesome.

Let's see, I did the "hatching a drakelet" thing at Grendel's Children which netted a shoulder pet, I have the Flying Pegasus by Starax Statosky, a cute little bunny that hops about that was part of a VKC event, a High Tharlarion, and a mechanical bird from the Steam Hunt.

I think that's about it. :D

I love animals... they taste great :p

I have several assorted dragonflies and birds that roam my land, also a pond and an aquarium with a whole bunch of different free-roaming prim fish. I also have one of Wynx's shoulder dragons.

I also love the VKC dogs. I have a black lab named Hoover (though he could just as easily be a yellow or chocolate lab; you can change his color on command). You can chain together huge strings of commands and get all kinds of cool results. My favorite so far: I have a "dive" command that causes Hoover to climb up my waterfall and dive off into the water below.

Also, the different VKC breeds definitely have different personalities. Hoover is a lovable, pretty quiet galoot. I have a friend with a chihuahua who is a nervous nellie, always getting into trouble and lost in strange places (the chihuahua, not the friend).

Very highly recommended.
