No credit card...what to do

I dont believe in credit cards....never have never will at all.
That in mind:

I cant pay for a Premium membership unless I have a credit card
OR
Pay Pal

I cant use Pay Pal because you have to fund it with a credit card (Im in czech republic so i dont know how it works elsewhere)

Theres NO information that i can find saying I can pay for a premium account via money order. check, or bank tramsfer.

I used to use pay by cash for Eve and SWG but SL isnt involved with them.

Theres NO pre paid visa/mastercard giftcard for sale int his country

so...because of the worldwide banking self created bias towards people having a credit card i am basically locked out of getting a premium membership?

Or is there some option I havent found yet?

BTW yes I buy everything cash...my new car...cash...plane tickets...cash....only thing i dont is my house which was given to me via inheritence

CC/PayPal is the only methods I am aware of.

Pay Pal also has verification to a bank account, but your bank has to accept that (and not sure if you can be account verified that way)

One way is to have the lindens turned into credits to pay the fees, but you'd have to make a lot of lindens for that.

You could get a pre-paid credit card and use that, it is more like a gift card and you can add money to it only as needed.

You could always ask your bank if they don't offer a Visa/MasterCard that isn't backed by an actual line of credit but by your account balance.

You can't sell L$ until you're payment verified.

I think LL requires you to have both a bank and credit card account tied to your PayPal one.

And my bills (utilities etc etc) are paid via direct debit from my bank.

if You can get them in the Czech republic, i also second the prepaid credit card idea. you can load it with just the amount of money you need.

I had to have a bank account tied to mine in order to verify...PayPal's rules, not LL's.

Does your bank offer debit cards? That is not a credit card and you could use it to pay for premium service.

Otherwise I am out of gas for suggestions.

Do you have debit cards in the Czech Republic? If you can get a debit card that is either MasterCard or Visa compatible, that will work. I use one myself to pay my SL tier.

Alternatively, if you are close enough to the border, you might check to see if you can get pre-paid credit cards in a neighboring EU nation.

Are you sure about Paypal needing a credit card?
My PayPal account is connected to my bank account, so I can put funds in the PayPal account to pay for things. Then again I am in the Netherlands, not Czech republic.

Furthermore I do know about banks here that have credit card that are working about the same as a bank card, so you have to fork over what you spent that month, and cannot get into debt (well only for the payments of one month).

On the other hand, Credit Cards, wether you like it or not, are the way to pay at the moment on the internet. So either you wait for other systems to kick in, or start trusting the CC a bit more

sounds, to me, like you're going to have to put your beliefs aside and get a credit card, or don't go premium in SL. quite the little quandry.

It's not just SL. It's everything. Almost everywhere you turn, people will want you to provide a credit card as proof of financial existence.

You're quite right to distrust credit cards. Carrying a balance on one and paying interest on it is like poking a hole in your pocketbook that leaks money. But it is quite possible to have a credit card and to use it without ever paying a penny of interest...by sticking to your budget and never charging any purchases that you can't pay off in one billing cycle.

Credit cards are a necessary evil.

The problem is, and this might just be here in the czech republic, is that i cannot add funds from my bank account to Pay Pal.

I dont know why i cant just send Linden a money order to pay for a whole year for my account or that they wont use Pay By Cash which practically every other online game/mmo/rpg does in addition to Pay Pal.

Yup I agree. Thats what I use a pre-paid, my own money. You can get one order at westernunion.com for a prepaid card. Just place money on it once a month. I don't believe in CC either.

Debit-card indeed is your best sollution, you can fund it from your bank account.

I use wirecard for all my internet transactions (its accepted as a normal Mastercard), they have a head office in germany, and also an island within SL, where you can get (fast) support.

I use a Visa branded debit card from my bank, tied to an account that is strictly for online purchases, I move money into it when needed. It's the only card I have now, I cut up all my credit cards years ago.

Most e-commerce does require the use of a credit card or paypal. So if you can't (won't, don't believe in) get one or the other I guess you can't use things that require a credit card.
