Try playing World of Warcraft.

*sigh* I felt so OLD there.

It is all L33T speak - which, coupled with the astoundingly bad spelling and grammar made the game something of an exercise in decoding.

In particular I noticed how many people used 'mist' for 'missed', or 'hopt' for 'hoped'. Looks like English is going through a lot of new evolutions.

lol, I played wow the other day with my kids. I used such shorthand to talk to them, and they replied back to me to say I misspelled everything. lmao... always good thing to hear.

I've noticed on some MMO's like "Tales of Pirates" that alot of these people aren't american or english-speaking people and use the shorthand to communicate since they really dont know the language. In a way it reminds me of a "universal" language. Seems only old people complain about it. :p

Besides, when there's a dozen critters attacking you, I dont think you have the time to write out a paragraph to your party members?

Bad spelling I can overlook, due to lag or someone being in a hurry, or just plain ol' fat-fingered-ness.
