She have to write a support ticket... or better call them on the phone.. my account was open in 2 minutes after i called them. When she just changed her account, perhaps its just a bug. (didnt understand.. did she upgrade to a premium? or downgrade from premium to a basic again?)But if she is not able to come in here.. she will not be able to connect to secondlife.com.. she should try it.. if she cant log into her profile on secondlife.com... she has no other chance as calling them on the phone. Cause without a log in.. she is not able to write a ticket... weird :(

Please, use your brain for a second: The forums are a self-help system, the users help other users. As such, users don't have access to the user database to be able to find out why an account is disabled or locked out. As an excersize to better understand this kind of stupidity, I'd be interested in hearing what logic lead you to the conclusion that other customers could help you getting an account enabled again.

You need to contact customer support about this.

What was the name of the main account? If you're not comfortable telling us, then please at least share the LAST name. -...chunes

What was the sl born date?-must be in april last year

DId you have a valid email address associated with the account at all times?-have changed the email once but the adress was valid all times

Did you use your real name when you signed up or did you lie about your real name?
-had not to enter my real name to sign up

....i just got a message from support that they have contacted the admin.. and send them my request...think it will still take some days, but i hope i will get my account back soon.

i know you all can't help me with is directly and i really didn't thought you could get my account running that was NOT the reason for this thread°! and that i post a problem like this i don't think it's stupidness i have seen more stupid post that mine actually, and if some prople really think it stupid...why do they answer me?, just nice to see some people care about it and have some ideas. i also thought maybe some of you had the same problem or kind of ...anf it seems like it's true...

Yes.. there are really more stupid treads.. thats why i answered on yours... the others are just hang in the game and think they are hacked.. i mean... you are logging out right now.. please try again at .......! i think everyone of us saw this one time.. and not only one time. And there are 30 treads about this one problem. But you really have to call them... or to write a support ticket... its the ONLY WAY! and there is nothing else what you can do. And there is nobody else/even not the Lindens) who will tell you anything else.. sorry.. but i know that best .. lol.. read my statement before

I had that happen to me for 3 consecutive months during the early part of 2008.
LL found the reason why...it seems my Mac address was being hammered by a 3rd party.(password crack I presume)

The Linden went onto say "This ban is being lifted, in just a couple of minutes it should be right to go once more. We're making notes of this address to attempt not to blanket ban anymore but if indeed it does occur please simply state "I believe I've been blocked by a 'generic MAC' ban"

I was fortunate that i'm able to use Live Chat for LL Support, so things tend to get sorted out far more quickly then relying on submission of Tickets, emailing and even phoning LL office.

Most people are likely to see such a poll as a solicitation to find out if anybody can help them with that problem (which is annoying in and of itself, you don't need to ask to ask a question here, just ask the question).

Further, your persistence was likely misinterpreted. You might want to take a look at Eric Raymond's essay, "How to Ask Questions The Smart Way" to prevent such misunderstandings in the future.

Probably not anything to do with your password. MAC address is fairly easily spoofed, unfortunately; odds are the attacker wasn't even targetting you but just needed a MAC that wasn't blocked. A better way for them to do this would be to depend on CPUID, since that's pretty close to impossible to spoof. I imagine the paranoid would cry foul on that, though, even though CPUID exists exactly for globally unique identification of machines, whereas most network cards these days are programmable and the MAC easily changed, providing no such gaurantee.

I'm not terribly surprised. Tech companies rightfully don't give the phone much priority, and SL in particular is likely inundated with support tickets. If you can get a Liason's attention in live chat, that's probably your best bet. Phone wouldn't be a bad second option, many telcos offer discount-rate international calling cards, and if all else fails or if you make a lot of calls to north america anyway, you might consider getting a US phone number using Vonage.com (and possibly an American friend to act as a relay if they won't ship overseas) to avoid international calling charges...

How do you figure? If you have the source code of the client you can change the code that fetches the CPUID (or PSN, or any other processor-provided identifier) to return anything you want. I suppose they could perform some kind of challenge-response through the client to a DRM chip, if one's installed, but that reduces the customer base for SL rather alarmingly, and in any case the integrity of the client must be assumed to be compromised...

Everything they've released so far as a binary blob is purely optional. Otherwise you couldn't build a purely open-source client.

Not to mention that there's all kinds of techniques for forging CPUID in purely-binary software... one where the access to the binary blob is mediated by a compromised application is trivial by comparison.

Gwendal, your message from yesterday is here. It is on page 2 of this thread. But no one here can help you. Your friend has to contact Linden Labs for help. People here are SL residents just like you and your friend, you have to contact Linden Labs, not people here. ok?

well,

just for your info,
the last week, i lost all of my SL accounts, one with nearly 5,000L and the another lots of clothes and hair stlye and so with a price of nearly 20,000L

i reserved a ticket to SL, i even sent a complete copy of my driving license.
nothing happened. no response, after nearly one week.

Linden in my idea "SHOULD NOT" ban accounts this way, without any previous notice. if any body is violating any terms of use, or if his email address is not valid, or if his real info is not there, he should be warned first, and after a few days, they can ban the account.

That is really interesting how simply they ban people accounts, without any explanation of reason. I think... it is not fair.

soon , in few months or at most , one year, Linden will have very serious competitors, with the same simulated environment and same level of computer graphics as what Linden provides (or even better... have a look for yourself at OpenLife ). if they want to manage their system this way, people will simply leave to better places.

all what i said was just hints and directions for managers. hope some one read it, and hope it can have positive effect on how Linden manage its users.

hope success for Linden, from the end of my heart.
