I am very happy with my name, however every once in a while I wish I'd been sharp enough to come up with a clever name, like 3Ring Binder...hehe.:)

Antidisestablishmentarian ...
are you apposed to the separation of church and state or did you just like the long word?

I remember when antidisestablishmentarianism used to be considered the longest word in the english language, however....

Methionylth...xisoleucine
is the longest word in the english language, it is the chemical name for Titin, also known as connectin, which is a protein that is important in the contraction of striated muscle tissues.
The actual complete spelling of the word is linked because it is 189,819 letters long. (Because it is a chemical compound, some do not consider it a word, but rather a verbal formulae).

however for the longest word in any of the major English language dictionaries check out Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis

Isn't antidisestablishmentarianism what that kid's dad asks him to say in the new dairy queen commercial?

Yeah Kaimi is supposed to mean "seeker" which is perfect and Kyomoon has the word moon which is vaguely romantic. And it's who I am now so I like it.

I think picking names, for pets, offspring, avatars is difficult because no name can ever really imbue the one who gets the name with all the fabulous qualities you believe and want them to have.

On the other hand how much you like a name depends a lot on the people you know with that name. For instance at my school one of the less popular/attractive girls was named Atha and ever since that name has had negative connotations for me. On the other hand one of the prettiest, nicest girls was named Prudence which... well Prudence is pretty bad but not as bad to me as it would have been. And now the name Trout is associated with intellegence, wit, charm, grace and physical attractiveness.

No - and LL owes me a new name. I'll be damned if I buy one. It's the only thing about SL that has left me truly bitter. Nice little stunt there LL.
See above.

I absolutely love my name. And I've only ever seen one other Herzog on the grid in almost 2 years.

I originally wanted the last name "Arcadia"... Of course it wasn't available when I joined. When I picked "Ventura" I had been watching a lot of "The Venture Brothers" and I actually kind of glossed over the "a".. I thought I had chosen "Winter Venture".

I do kind of wish we could change our"Screen Name" as we go along.. Even if there was a fee involved, I'd be willing to pay a "reasonable amount" to change my name to something more lyrical.. I think that allowing us to change names "at will" would drastically reduce the number of alts that are generated.

But, whatever. I'll live with Winter Ventura.. it's been two years almost, and it's grown on me. The insane amounts that LL charges for a custom name.. simply isn't even worth considering.

I love my name, there was a spell about 2 months into my SL that I wished I had chosen something more "normal" but I paid my $9.95 and made an alt (in the days when you had to pay) so I have two AVs now

Although I haven't logged onto SL for months, I will never delete Oh Fugu, and if and when I do return, it will probably be with that avatar :D

Nonsense!
You're still not banging on about Recreant fergawdsakes??

Nope!
You're still a knight in armour, with a trout recreant in your coat of arms, since I first saw that name.
Dammit, you've even got a real coat of arms done for you now in the neverending thread.

Lookit all of you.
- with your awful names ;)
It's not my fault that you didn't pick a brilliant name like Sling Trebuchet

I have always been Elgyfu, it was my 'artist' name long before I came to SL.

Of all the available surnames at the time, I chose Wishbringer because it sounded positive, a little bit 'fairyish' and sounds ok with Elgyfu.

As time passed it became more and more 'me'.

I have seriously considered changing my name in RL to Elgyfu Wishbringer, hehe

Sling Trebuchet is a brilliant name. You could have been Toss Mangonel or Lob Onager, of course.

Herzog is one of the cooler last names provided. I'm trying to make my way through Werner Herzog's Fitzcarraldo, but I keep getting interupted every time I watch it. Maybe this weekend.

I wonder why the system insists on providing lists of last names. Why not just let us make our own? I'm sure this question has been asked before. Does it have something to do with routing information - like an address?

I had watched a Herzog movie the same day as I signed up for SL. It seemed too cool to pass up. Fitzcarraldo was also one of the surnames available at that time. Not sure whether Stroszek was though.

Someone at LL must be a fan.

but then I create alts, sometimes I grow attached them and then its hard to hit the delete key.

I sometimes wish I'd picked something a little more interesting than my real first name. And the only drawback is when I'm mentoring I get people starting conversations with me in German because they assume I must be able to speak the language since I have a German name. Aside from that I'm happy with it.

I once googled my name and found a professional photographer who speciallises in photographing horses, which I think is the coolest thing ever.

I'm relatively happy with the silliness of mine, and the fact that for the most part the silliness is lost on the people that I meet, but I'd probably have been a great deal happier if I could have just picked the name I want rather than being limited to a list of last names to choose from.

All of my alt's names, however, suck. Bad. And some of my alts are by far more well-known than my main, haha.

I made the mistake of choosing alt names that all have the same capital BB VV AA etc. Until a friend found me out I had not realized it.Now I seldom use them.

I'm pretty used to having Murakami as my surname here now, though when I came here, I was really miffed that I couldn't use the surname that the roleplay character had used for years elsewhere.

The inability to change our names has led to both myself and my Partner creating alts that shared the same surnames while keeping our given names. This meant having to completely re-equip those alts with the clothes, animations, AO's, skins, and other stuff that we wanted to keep using. My original account still has WAY more stuff than that alt does, especially in terms of alternate avatar forms, but at least when we want to go somewhere as a "mated couple", we can display the same surnames for ourselves, and our roleplay daughter, and my roleplay brother. But if we wanted to have or adopt another child, their surname couldn't match, since the one we chose to unify under is closed now.

I really wish there was a way to change our names, and retain what was in our original accounts. It's cost me hundreds of dollars in real money to equip my "married" alt with even a fraction of what my main has.
