From: Eve Drechsler Oh yes, I still have the wall! I've moved a few accidentally in my time though. He really should take edit rights off me, I'm a liability and very click happy . Once he gets done laughing (if he's a good BF, then he will) , have him lock the house in place. It can be done in edit mode...I believe in the objects tab. You can also drag an edit box over the entire house and lock it all at once...but that can be a pain if you have a lot of items out already. Locking , I believe, can only be done if all of the objects belong to the owner.

From: Rhaorth Antonelli as for the eye dropped suggestions, afaik it only works for colors (tints) not textures There must be some kind of circumstances controlling this. I was happily eye-dropping a texture around in my house but at some point, I had to go into files and select it before carrying on. I was using textures I'd bought so there may have been different permissions.

Eyedropper only works when...
01-17-2008 11:22
You have to have the texture in your inventory for the eyedropper to work...
Otherwise would be easy to take textures...LOL

Hi Eve Hope you have either managed to sort out the wall or have convinced your b/f that 'dog is the new black' - lol !! or you could go to Heart Garden Centre and buy a massive big plant and cover it up - hehe! I totally know how you feel - my first ever home in sl I accidentally dragged a rl pic of my eyes onto the floor - realised my mistake - tried to rectify it - ended up with the eyes going onto most of the wall too - VERY SCARY!! Not only that I then thought - gosh I must have wood in the inventory somewhere - went to replace it and ended up with a log cabin that looked like a swedish brothel - I really didn't have a clue what I was doing and was pressing all sorts of buttons willy nilly!! Looking back it was hilarious! Then the was the time that I deleted my entire sky box when I thought I had clicked to edit the prim I was working on then hit delete......think I pulled that trick a few times - infact I still do it occasionally now *makes mental note to remember to check what prim is highlighted BEFORE hitting delete!! Good luck Eve and let us know how you got on! BB

Yes Rha, Kurt explains the texture must have been in inventory which might be it. I thought I was only adding my bought textures but still the eye-dropper didn't work at one point at least. I might investigate further .. after I put my front door back in place

You need to actually own the texture to get it with the eyedropper tool and apply it to anything. And to the OP, this isn't all that uncommon a problem. Even pro builders mess up sometimes, and accidentally let go of a texture over a prim, when intending to move it from one folder to another. Or we drag something to the wrong prim face... Best solution is to contact the builder and ask for help, or rez a fresh copy from your inventory.

Drag a texture from your inventory, and drop it on the face of any prim that you can edit, and that face will get that texture. If several faces of that prim are already selected, via the "Select Texture" edit option, the texture will be applied to all of them. (If it's a no-copy texture, the texture will vanish from your inventory and go into the inventory of the prim.)

*laughs* What? You don't want to paint a 5 meter high mural on the wall of your house, using that private snapshot of your steamy session with your special someone as the image? Gods! I can imagine... The trick there is to overlap the two inventory windows, so the one you're dragging to is adjacent to the one you're dragging from.

Thankyou for letting me know before something horrendous happened!

The OP's problem is one of the reasons being able to get texture keys was a good thing since you can fix that and similar problems in seconds.
Although telling someone random how to do it and use it would be a bad thing considering they could easily abuse it (though there are ways to just give a one-time solution rather than explain the method used).

All fixed now, with a normal sized pic of my puppy on the wall. My bf tried to tell me he couldn't fix it but you guys had already genned me up. He was totally cool about it and only laughed a little.
I admire all you guys that build, texture and more. I don't have the patience to learn and I'm a bit scared I'll break something. Maybe I should start experimenting first with stuff that is actually mine.

After he fixed it, you should have asked excitedly, "Can I do it again?"
