Apologies for wrong forum, but may get a quick answer here. I've done something reaaaally stupid in my bf's house. I was putting a pic on the wall and idiotically placed it as a texture, now the whole wall has a pic of my dog!!! Is there any way I can put it back to original???

My first huge eff up on SL, which no doubt I will never live down.

Thanks for any help, or you can just point and laugh if you like!

if you don't have the original texture... impossible to undo this. Last solution is to ask the creator, the builder to come and replace the original texture.

/me points fingers and giggle's.

Only kidding.

I've done this before myself.
Just edit the wall and go to the texture menu. If any other walls use the same texture, you can use the eyedropper button to pick the texture from an existing wall.

Post again if you need more detailed help.

I've done so so much worse than this. Only two days ago I managed to be distracted by an IM and render a 64 prim contruction in totally clear. Thankfully I had a backup, retexturing all that would have been such a pain.

Eve, I thought I was up the creek when I changed a wrong texture but Tex is right about the eye dropper. Have the panel you need to change selected in edit, you may need to click <<more to get the extra options, select texture, from the new panel click the dropper and click an original texture. Click select. You might have to do the same with the colour.

In the future, if this happens, hit CANCEL after the texture applies. You won't be able to undo it otherwise if you hit OK.

Thanks for all the help guys, but I can't seem to fix it with the eyedropper. I am dying at the thought of him coming online and saying 'wtf'... *laughs hysterically*.

Edit to say, wish to hell I'd been paying attention to that CANCEL button!

LOL

eep...sorry

hehe

I hate trying to edit/delete a semi transparent object...and you think you have it selected...only to find out that your house, or part of it, was actually selected.

argh

I lock my houses in place now :-D

Just pretend like you did it on purpose because you really love your dog.

Most houses are sold mod/copy so your BF should be able to pull a copy of that part of the house out of his inventory to replace the part that is messed up.

suggestions to fix:

- put a plant in front of the wall and pretend you don't know what he's talking about

- tell him it looks fine on your screen and that maybe he needs to update his graphics drivers

lol, I do love my dog, but not only is she about a gazillion feet high, she's not even the right way up.

My bf will be able to fix it as he's always putting up diff walls etc, but I'd rather he didn't get the chance to pee himself laughing at me!

Thanks for the replies guys I really appreciate it.

If you have a similar texture of the wall in your inventory, use it. Or just make it brick... who doesn't love exposed brick? :)

Hahaha, yeah I might try that one. I'll just plead ignorance and say it looks fine to me.

LOLOLOL Seriously Eve, I think we've ALL been there. If your bf doesn't have a copy of the texture, or a copy of the house, then choose a new texture that accents the other walls. You could make an interior design choice!

Eve, you have now had your first rite of passage in SL User-ness. Next is to start an hour long build.. only to realize that you've lost connection to SL.

Seriously, I've done this so many times, I've simply started to sign and try again.

Hi, Eve :)

On the plus side, you still *have* the wall. :p

"Someone" I know accidentally deleted the doors to her first apartment...errr twice....and the second time felt like just deleting my...errrr....her.... AV and starting a new one rather than have to call maintenance again.

Oh yes, I still have the wall! I've moved a few accidentally in my time though. He really should take edit rights off me, I'm a liability and very click happy :D.

I did the exact same thing except it was a very explicit texture of me and the girlfriend. We tried a number of things after she stopped laughing at me. Fortunately, she had a back up of the house. Be careful if you delete the house, clean everything out first. We lost a couple of items.

They are probably still there stuck in the walls of the newly rezzed home :P

heh I have been in sl nearly 2 years and about a week ago I deleted one whole side of my house (thankfully I built it myself so was able to return it)
THEN lock it in place LOL

as for the eye dropped suggestions, afaik it only works for colors (tints) not textures

good luck
