I'd save up my $300L a week, Maya - and then purchase a 512 lot ... I have a couple of low prim homes I can give you - one is modern, and the other traditional - with lockable doors - and some low prim furniture to help you furnish your home nicely ... just im me when you are ready to purchase land, and I'll help you out!
You should be able to find something at about $4,000L for your first land ... or, if you don't want to wait to save up the $4,000L - you can always purchase lindens to buy your land ... $4,000L is about $14 or $15 U.S. right now. If you have your credit card information on your SL account, you can purchase lindens immediately with no hassle by clicking on the small blue $L circle at the top right of your screen.
