From: Love Hastings Jealousy. They see people having a good time and enjoying life, and get angry. Oh come on...that's not fair....it's not jealousy at all....and I wasn't angry....excuse me for leaving out a few smiley faces. People come to SL for different reasons....they come to Forum for different reasons. I used to come here to socialize, but it turned into a second job....so things changed.... I enjoy life in RL...and SL provides income to allow for that.....I'm not the only one.... Some times I feel that people are jealous that I make an income here...and are dogging me for that....See...it works both ways.....both directions....same feelings from both sides....probably wrong....but same gut check.....we are not that different. People come for different reasons....and we should be tolerant of that. Some people come to Forum specifically for education and business improvement....not for socializing....and vice versa. And a lot of other reasons in between. Some come for a mix of it all. If someone comes to Forum to maximize their learning....if someone comes to Forum to connect and socialize....if someone comes to Forum to "me too"....does it have to be one or the other in order to add to a thread? Do you have to fall into a specific category to contribute to a thread? without taking a lashing? Why can't I or anyone else admit that we don't care to see the undying thread show up continuously while searching for learning topics....without taking a lashing? I said it as politely as I could.

It's such a hardship to skip over the first result of your search.

I kinda don't care either way about necrothreads, if there is nothing new/entertaining posted, it's easy to move on to another thread on the same page. Only time I think it's pointless is if there is more than one thread already (in the first few forum pages), and THEN someone digs up an ancient bygone thread. (Now there's more! Invite them in for cookies.) But even then...it doesn't shake up my day.
I always found the "only post to existing threads on the topic" vs. "do not dig up old threads, make a new one on the same topic instead" position of various online forums confusing. Some feel strongly one way, some strongly the other way.
Long as something entertains me, what, me worry?

From: Love Hastings It's such a hardship to skip over the first result of your search. lol...well, that was pretty much my whole point about the necroposting....simply offered up the undying thread as an example of how it works in similar ways for different people. I gathered that most people ended up getting to that conclusion with me. Let me try another example so I don't have to walk on eggshells for a few undyers..... Someone today doesn't particularly care for the Stickies to keep showing up. Bring it on....Sticky Posters!

Why should individuals have to be very slightly inconvenienced just to allow a whole group of people to be happy? That hardly fits the "me" culture. (Could you detect the sarcasm in my post?)

From: HoneyBear Lilliehook And as a whole, the members of this forum DO rush to assist new people, so if someone thinks otherwise, perhaps they've been pre-warned. Anyway Mickey, have a nice day. *edited for typo I don't post here often, in fact I tend to use the forums as a resource but find this one rather interesting. For someone who does not tend post replies to other posts on a regular basis, I would hope that it would be okay to ask a question to the forum on something they do not understand and not get beat up on the process.

Why necropost when we have 'just ignore and let this one die', which is a necropost that never died!!

From: Francesca Alva I NEVER post to resurrected threads. There is a big difference between resurrectting a corpse and merely reanimating it

I am going to sleep... Tomorrow when I wake up I hope to see the mother of all necroposts here in the morning. Who is up for the challenge? Make it good. I will give 10 lindens to the winner... Ok... don't hold me to that. Night all.

From: Tegg Bode There is a big difference between resurrectting a corpse and merely reanimating it Or keeping it on life support. EDIT: Ack! I just added to a necro! *facepalm*
