Do you frequently morph your main avatar into different shapes or even change its gender? I mean within the main account, not with alts. I guess most people don't regularly do this, but perhaps have the occasional major makeover. Nobody has to answer this, of course! In my case I've kept a consistent appearance since I came to SL over 2 years ago, only changing clothing or varying my hair between loose or tied back in a ponytail or bun. I have made a few enhancements and adjustments along the way, but that's all.

I mainly use a catlike anime girl type, and use that most of the times. I use a quicklaunch morph to change into a real housecat, and so I have a few other avatars that morph from a being into the same being, but different. Cat ---> Cat girl ---> Cat demon Lizard ---> Dragon-like adult female (goth like wingtype) ---> huge dragon It's funny to scare newbies when I transform into the dragon, since it's kinda large. And I also have some furry outfits and one human adult with a standard appearance. And that's all

Normally a male kid or teen. But I have been known to morph into an adult female. Once in a great while I have to blend in and be incognito for the business at hand. I'm totally ninja, but don't tell anybody.

In the 5 years i've been in SL, my avatar never morphed, but went through a slow evolutionary process, adding more and more of the possibilities of the system as they emerged (texture skin, prim hair, AO, prim shoes / clothing parts, flexi hair, sculpted shoes / accessories) Other than that and doing some tweaking on the shape, (and of course modernize my wardrobe once in a while), I have hardly changed my look.

I have a number of different avatar shapes, but one main Deira shape, which has changed very little over the time I have been in SL. I love my tiny pony avatar and I have a dragon avatar and a tiny tiger one which are great fun.

My shape evolved to it's current form... quickly over the first few months, more steadily for a while, and hardly at all over the last year. I change my hair often, both colour and style. I have a skin with a small set of make-up variations which is the normal me, but I have a few alternatives I go to occasionally: a geisha make-up, a tabby neko skin, and a neon on black cyber-skin. The neko skin goes with matching ears, tail & whiskers.
I have dozens of full-body morphs but the only one I use with any regularity is a quad raccoon av. Knowing that I rarely use them, I've stopped buying them now. There are some great ones I'd like to have, but it'd just be buy - wear once - clog up inventory.

/me morphs frequently, not physically but psychologically, from a friendly helpful personality to a mean, nasty pedant.

I do wear other avatars sometimes, but treat them more like costumes than changes. When I'm done playing I'll switch back to the usual look.

I'm a Hujing/Kitsune so I do morph. Usually flippin between a little foxy and a fox (neko) child. I do have additional AVs that I put on once in awhile, but they're more masks/costumes than anything else.

Yes... mostly different dragon av's. Very occasionally I'll appear as something different such as a phoenix, mechanoid or anthropomorphic mammal.

I got about 40 skins/avatars now, maybe 45 ... so yes I do change a lot.
If I wanted to just look like a human I would shut the computer off and go look in a mirror.

All the time...
Ceera is, by definition, a shapeshifter. Before she came to The Dream, she had already been defined as someone who could morph to any form, at will, and have the full abilities of that form. So when she came to SL, she immediately started collecting avatar forms. I have over 70 avatar forms on my main account now, and use a fair number of them frequently. Many species, and all gender possibilities.
My most frequent form is a female three-tailed Kitsune, which is a pretty anthropomorphic fox, Human in body shape, with a foxes head, tail(s) and fur, and sometimes with digitigrade legs. Kitsune can appear as Humans if they choose, so my next most likely form is a human female.
My other forms include dogs, wolves, an otter, a dragon, a few avian types, each in both anthro and "natural" forms, and usually in both male and female forms, and in many cases I have adult, teen and child versions. Which of those I may choose depend on my mood, and the circumstances.

A "family" affair...
11-28-2008 08:16
The Munro's have had a number of "personalities" living through a main avatar. Currently there is Aunti (sexy and smart), Cuz (a cousin who's very adventurous and outgoing), Cutie (adorable 11 year old who can be quite precocious at times) and recently a foster care teen named Adam (who gives the family an interesting change of perspective).
Each character has a "Basic" folders which holds shapes, skins, eyes, hair and a few amenities for quick changes. Clothes are divided into easily accessed folders for dressing up and Profile photos are kept in a folder and inserted into the main Profile page as needed (to show who's currently outside playing). Generally, each character is active for the time I'm online, so there's not a problem with constant change-overs.
Depending on the mood and circumstances, it's fun to live "in character" with distinct and different personalities and interests while roaming SL. Cutie can take messages for Auntie and the "family" interacts with friends who may or may not meet the other family members over time. It makes for very interesting interactions and the variety keeps things fresh and spontaneous. (Auntie feels a presence and turns to see the naturally inquisitive Cutie peeking over her shoulder as she writes this).
Hello to any who might be reading and have meet one or more of us before...(waves).

My Avatar (and RP Character) does change often: It's part of who he is.
However, I also have many RP Characters I brought over to SL from my old haunt: AOL ... and I am still bringing more over as I collect the parts I need for them.

I think I'm up to 4 forms. People comment on it a lot since I've been mainly my little shape for so long. But I have Little, Big, Vamp, and Digital versions of myself. (^_^) Lately, I decided to use the Picks section of my profile to spell each one out. But, I don't really venture beyond that. The odd thing is that each circle of friends that I have seems to prefer me in one shape or the other. Some of my friends are uncomfortable with little me, others don't like my tall shape, and most people freak out at my little vamp avatar. So... I guess a lot of my shape changing is related to me trying to fit in with different crowds. (>_< I guess, it also has to do with clothing. A lot of stuff has baked in shaders that just DON'T look good on little me, so, gotta sprout up and develop for those things. (=_=)y

From: Conifer Dada Do you frequently morph your main avatar into different shapes or even change its gender? I have over 300 different avatars for Argent Stonecutter, of so many species I have to organize them taxonomically (eg, avatars / carnivora / caniformia / musteloidea / mustelidae / mustela / putoris).

From: Atom Burma Normally no, I change clothes after many weeks. Clothes, I don't change so much. And this is why we don't want to add "scent" support to Second Life. ^^ That, and, I have some outfits that have been on as many as 10 different species.

I can morph several times a day, but it depends on what I'm doing. If I'm making a new avatar to sell, I'll switch between its variants several times. If I'm just goofing off and having fun, I may only switch a couple of times, or not at all. Sometimes I'll switch between vastly different forms simply for the fun of the outfit. The other day some friends and I raided the tiny section of Grendel's Children and had fun running around as eggplants, toasters, clocks, cars, and snack tables. I do have a few folders for "characters" that are fairly constant. They're not for RP really, just different facets of myself, or fun to use. A few of them: My "main" avatar is a fox-like female alien with white and gold fur, pink hair, mismatched eyes and a disbelief in gravity. I often use her color scheme on other avatars because it's "me". My pink Internet Daemon self is Serendipity, basically my "muse". She represents my creative process (random and often silly) and my computer nerd side. I use this form when I want to be silly, and/or make faces at people. Recently I added a large (around 16 hands) quadrupedal winged horse to my list. The horses are the most recent avs I've made, and I ended up really liking the chestnut pinto. I haven't personalized this one yet.
