Well I mostly wear my sim owner's tag. If I think about I remove it. It could be interpeted as an owner of a club. As far as wearing another club's tag, once I again if I forget it I remove it. If I am not a member then I won't wear a tag at all. But I do think it's rude for a blue box to just pop up asking you to join. That goes for lms to. Most of the time I put on the club's tag just so they can quit sending me those darn blue boxes asking me to join. I much perfer a direct im asking if I like to join or open chat announcement asking for members. When I receive that, I usually will join.

From: Imnotgoing Sideways I wear my own personal group tag, just so that I can put silly stuff up there. And, it gives me a chance to mock other people's tags when I see they're taking themselves too seriously. (^_^)
I once met a guy that said his "Owner" tag means he owns land... I changed my tag to say "PWNER" and said "Well, this tag means I PWN you. (^_^)" and I offered him a copy of my collar... He rejected it and TPed out. (^_^)
But, with clubs... I have a hard time finding a nice way to tell them, "I'm here to spend time with friends and meet new ones. I don't exactly WANT to flood my group list to advertise for you." So I just tolerate the constant group offers and the "You won't be on the money orb until you join the group." stuff. (=_=)
I reeeeeealy had to put up with it at the club I went to last night. It was run by noobies that still think their club will be profitable... It wasn't exactly the lowest lag place on the grid, and there were only 8 people there at the time, so I don't plan on making a return trip any time soon. (=_=)
That said... I agree that I wouldn't wear another club's tag to a club, but, what about not wearing a club tag or any tag at all? Does that come across as rude? I'm just feeling silly after seeing all these "VIP" tags and people treating it as if it means anything at all. (=_=)y i've always liked having the host or the dj mention that if people wanted a tag to IM certain people that work there and we would be happy to get them one..i am never in favor of constant group invite because i can't stand them myself lol.. that chases people off more than anything i think.. We didn't care about what VIP tag people wore or personal tags..I love the tags people made for themselves the best.. the only time we would really throw up a red flag on a tag is if they were there to hurt our club..and as i had said earlier in another post..Either a dancer was Iming me that someone was trying to scalp her from the club or a customer was Iming me or one of the other staff that they got a LM from someone that was not from the club trying to do advertising in our club.. our customers were very good customers and loved the club and didn't want to see other people coming in there and doing what they considered was damage to their club.. traffic avg'd about 50k consistent and still does there i think.. my IM's would flood pretty fast when people started to hand out land marks lol but as for tags..Owner tag can be any group the people were made owner in or that they started.. I think smaller clubs will be more protective about tags because business is always a little ruff at first.. i think the bigger clubs well some of them anyways are understanding that Hey we have a loyal fan base and good customers that feel they have to watch our back..so lets relax and show a little more freedom.. heck i had owners coming in with owner club tags and other businesses trying to get me to work at their clubs or businesses and i was the head manager lol but i also knew them so most times it was laughed off by both of us but always with the little last word of saying..well the job is always there is you want it lol i was dancing one time with my HM tag on which i would do when it slowed down some to kill the boredom and one tried to scalp me as a dancer for their club..my response to her was"Ok now i've seen it all"then told her who i was and i felt sorry for her after she felt so embarrassed..i just told her to enjoy the club and that our dancers are allowed to dance anywhere they wish but managers cannot lol like someone said tags are pretty tribal and the Indians more than the chiefs can be the ones that will get a person sneaking around caught faster than anything.. the best places are the places that just don't care and just want to have fun.. i just wear my name around anymore and if i like the club i am more than happy to wear their VIP tag.but i'll never wear a VIP tag that hits me at the front door with a group invite before i've met anyone.. in my eyes they need to be more hands on if they want to make people feel at home..

From: Sredni Eel I won't wear a club tag unless I'm working there. My usual tag says "DJ Johnny", which gets me a lot of work, but it isn't disrespectful to any club. The only time I change the tag is if I think there's confusion over who the dj is. Same here. I wear my personal tag 99.99% of the time. When I change is for specific events like RFL - then I will wear my team tag. As for clubs, I don't wear the tags. And I join very few club groups anymore. When I do, it's a place I really, really like and want to be in the group to hear about events. Then there was the time a year ago when I worked at a club and showed up for work still wearing my: Free Woman of (Gorean City) tag. Oppppssss! Fortunately one of the managers caught that right away.

From: Nikki Herrey Currently, I don't wear my club owner tag when I go to someone else's club. However, I must admit it's tempting to wear it. Is it considered disrespectful (never mind the rules) to wear your own club owner tag in someone else's club ? Thanx. I really do not mind this at all - although I think I wore a Owner Tag once in 2005. I offer club job search in my venue so many club owners drop by to post their openings. I do mind people on my payroll wearing the tag of the other club they work in when in my club. I also do not allow DJs that work in my venues to give out memberships to their own personal fan groups to any of my patrons. To me, that is just gathering my audience to take elsewhere. .

From: Madhu Maruti My cafe isn't a club; it doesn't bother me when people wear club tags there, and if I went to clubs, I'd probably not hesitate to wear my cafe tag at them. But I would not wear it at another coffee house, I think, or at any place that feels like it "competes" directly with mine. You hit the nail on the head right there.

I don't have an issue with someone who owns a club wearing that tag in our venues. I DO have an issue with a performer wearing the tag of another club, though.

I don't get out that much but if I'm in a club and I see someone with a tag saying they own another club I tend to think, "Wow this place must be good, the owners of other clubs come here."

Either that or their clubs must really blow if they come here instead! It seems disrespectful to me. I wouldn't do it if I were in that scene, especially with as competitive a niche as it is. It just seems wrong. I'm guilty of forgetting a tag that I have on, though. I usually don't wear a tag unless I need to have it on for some reason.

Including at my own shop. That title is just generic whimsy and can go anywhere, but when I don't need a tag I try to remember to deactivate whatever I'm wearing.

In my opinion, you're life must be really great if a person's choice of group tag causes you problems. I always wear the tag for my place wherever I'm at, unless I need to change tags for a specific land permission somewhere. Being the owner of my place is a big part of my identity in SL. I'd never get upset at people wearing competing tags at my place. I'm happy to see the owners of game places stop by my place, and they're happy to see me dropping money in their games too. If people are trying to scalp customers or employees, they'll do that no matter what tag they've got on. Judge people based on their actions, not their group tag.

While I don't know for sure, I suspect that very few clubs run at a profit, especially clubs without dancers/ad boards/malls.
Because of that, my general frame of mind is that when I go to someone's club, that club's owner and staff have probably sunk a lot of money and time to create a place for me to have fun.
Therefore, I think the minimal amount of gratitude that I can express while at someone's club is to not advertise that everyone else there can go to a different club.
